10/11 wins for the season is not unreasonable
I've had a look at our fixture for the rest of the year, and after the next 2 games are draw is quite soft.
Looking at each game below we have quite a few very winnable games. It certainly helps to play Carlton Melbourne and Essendon twice each during the year!

Hard to disagree with that except you never know when you're going to get a side who's on a run of form (geez - I wouldn't mind playing Port and the Dogs now). Still - as bad as this will sound - I would't be overly sad to finish a little lower and get 1 more gun Mid (of say, Billings quality) + another one in the early 20's. Then - I think we're largely set for a crack at it over the next few years.
Go you red, black & white warriors

no pick in the early 20's available ... we gave it to the woods for Freeman.
... certainly though it does seem there are wins there for our taking.

Forget draft picks we have FA cash and we need to start building winning culture.
Imo we have great coaches and set up to take any player and make em a gun.
Got a feeling that hawks game may have cost us a finals spot. We should sue the umpires for the moneys we wouldve earned finisheing 8th. Seriously.

Agree, winning culture. Be attractive to new potential FA's.SMS wrote:Forget draft picks we have FA cash and we need to start building winning culture.

We need to look and act like a club that is hungry for success.

Re: 10/11 wins for the season is not unreasonable
All the wins you've highlighted do seem plausible, but we know reality doesn't always turn out that good for a middling club that we still are. We've had a great run with injuries so far, as we did last year. That helps enormously.
Still, even a lower end of 8 wins for the year seems very doable

Tank now. 2 wins is enough.

Considering we could be 4-2 rather than 2-4, the OP is not unreasonable. We are a half decent side when we turn up. Just gotta learn to turn up every week

While I would love to see another top 5 pick, the benchmark should be set as high as possible this year.
It will be more motivation to top it the following year with the likes of Carlisle & Freeman & more game time with the youngsters. As others have stated, FA will be lured if they see big improvements in the club over the next couple of years, we can fast track a great build with a winning culture.

Re: 10/11 wins for the season is not unreasonable
No point making finals if we are not competitive against the top sides.
2016 needs to be another development year with getting as many midfield minutes as possible into the younger players eg Billings, Sinclair, Acres, Dunstan, Minchington, Gresham, Lonie, McKenzie, Weller, Ross & Freeman when ready. I think AR needs to release the reins a little more on these kids thru the middle and they will surprise us! He tends to rely on the same centre setups Armitage & Steven far too much and they run themselves into the ground.
That plus the continued development of our key pillars in McCartin & Goddard and Sandi players.
We do need a couple of tall marking mids to come in. AR has tried Gilbert perhaps when fit Roberton could be given a run thru the middle also?
Add the above and this years trade/draft periods and with Carlise returning we will be in a solid position next year to push up into the top 8.

Surely you're not counting round 1 as a game we should have won?bigcarl wrote:Considering we could be 4-2 rather than 2-4, the OP is not unreasonable. We are a half decent side when we turn up. Just gotta learn to turn up every week
I reckon if any of Roo, Fisher, Dempster, Steven, Armo get injured we are brought right back to the level of the bottom few sides. Long year ahead before we start counting 10-11 wins.

Why not? We were 21 points up closing on three quarter time and had outplayed Port comprehensively. I'd say that's winnablegone fission wrote:Surely you're not counting round 1 as a game we should have won.bigcarl wrote:Considering we could be 4-2 rather than 2-4, the OP is not unreasonable. Re: 10/11 wins for the season is not unreasonable
When you let the opposition kick the last 9 goals and you lose by 30-odd points then it's a bit of a stretch to claim it as nearly a win.bigcarl wrote:Why not? We could even be 6 - 0 if we'd kicked a heap more goals against the Dogs & Giants too.

Re: 10/11 wins for the season is not unreasonable
Point is we were by far the better team for three quarters and should have gone on with it. We are a half decent team when we turn up to play and 10 wins isn't unreasonable

Re: 10/11 wins for the season is not unreasonable
Think my pre season prediction was 6-8 wins. Worked on the theory of Essendon x 2, Carlton x 2, Melbourne x 1 win and 1 x maybe, and 1 or 2 upsets
Reckon (or hope) it'll be the higher end of that prediction.

I am really more interested in %
Competitive is what I want at this stage

8 wins and a % of above 80 will be very nice. Next year we march into the top 8.
