Re: WTF is unrealistic attempt.
Another case where the umpires have to make an 'interpretation' rather than a 'black/white rule.
How about when the umpire called Savage to 'play on' after 6 seconds when he was obviously considering having a shot at goal from about 55m out?
Clearly the umpire decided Savage couldn't possibly realistically make the distance.
Clearly the umpire concerned had no idea of Savage's kicking capabilities.

Re: WTF is unrealistic attempt.
It is simple and it is black and white. If you jump on someones back and touch or mark the ball, that's fine. If you jump on someone's back and don't touch it, it's a push in the back (unrealistic attempt).

Re: WTF is unrealistic attempt.
I thought the decision against Roo was correct.
I thought the decision against Membrey was wrong. He was the only one with eyes on the ball.
It was a shame that Roo's effort (the ball hitting his foot) didn't go through for a goal.
Would've been goal of the millennium.

Or one was fine, felt bad for the other bloke. That's a lot of weight falling on his chest.
Membrey call was bs, as soon as he jumped, the dees player took his eyes off the ball an stuck a knee into membreys legs.

Re: WTF is unrealistic attempt.
If you're in his back, you're in his back, so call it 'in the back'.
But don't call it unrealistic attempt when it's a totally realistic attempt at taking a high grab.
Thought some of the umpiring was pretty inconsistent yesterday, especially on holding the ball.

I thought the love for Melbourne in the media was way over the top.satchmo wrote:melbournes attempt at the threepeat was unrealistic,
They had beaten Collingwood and Richmond which are two of the poorer teams on
N form this year
We have had a much harder draw with Bulldogs, Hawthorn and GWS.
I always thought we would beat Melbourne and I found Bernie Vince's comments about it being Etihad stadium to blame was poor.
We beat them by 6 goals at the G last year and I believe we would have beaten them there yesterday.
One year will be our year

Re: WTF is unrealistic attempt.
What is his issue with Etihad? Indoors and 5 minutes from his house. Hardly a tough 'away' game.longtimesaint wrote:I thought the love for Melbourne in the media was way over the top.satchmo wrote:melbournes attempt at the threepeat was unrealistic,

What is he going to do when they have to play North in Hobart or the Swans or GWS away?

Re: WTF is unrealistic attempt.
the 'rule' that stood out for me was from the friday night game.
... twice i watched boomer walk back from the mark to take a kick
and he bounced the pill .... shouldnt that be a 'play on' call ??
