What happened to St.Kilda in June 2007
A mate of mine lives in Bicheno Tasmania and he told me that someone had graffitied on sign over there that says 'R.I.P St.Kilda Died June 2007'. Does anyone know if it refers to St.K.F.C and if so what actually happened at that time. TIA.

Hmmm...
Early June 2007 we got trounced to the tune of 10 goals to Geelong. Ross Lyon didn't have many fans to begin with IIRC.
Perhaps that put grave doubts on our finals chances for that season?

By June 10 2007 we'd been thrashed four games in a row. Then we hit back and beat the Weagles in Perth.

Thanks your replies skeptic, felix and Waltzing St Kilda. I thought something might have happened off field. I looked up the results from around that era and although there were a couple of 10 goal loses I didn't think the results were that bad that someone would graffiti a sign in anger over them. Obviously the person responsible didn't live through the 80s.

No, but after the heights and hype of 2004-2005, and the slip in 2006, and the crash in 2007, the mood was volcanic.mambo2706 wrote:Obviously the person responsible didn't live through the 80s.
This place nearly exploded a few times. The combined disappointment at failing to win a flag and the anger at our super-defensive play under a seemingly one-dimensional coach led a lot of people to be very unhappy.
Better times were just around the corner. Sort of, anyway.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
