How good was this bloke...
Sure he went missing in finals a bit...
But he was serious quality.

Re: How good was this bloke...
Terrific memories.
To read through opinions on this site of the likes of Billings, Lonie and Sinclair. Nothing personal fellas, but you all have a long, long way to go to hold a candle to this guy!
The best "small" forward I've seen since Leigh Matthews (who wasn't all that small).

superstar
one of the things that will haunt me was the fact he was close to winning us a flag against the most hated club.

Re: How good was this bloke...
Left a massive hole in the forward line when he retired. Consistently scored 50+ goals a season and could win the game off his own boot.
Was my favourite player (obviously!)

Re: How good was this bloke...
One of the great small forwards the game has seen.
Not many blokes his size have averaged 2 goals a game playing roughly 250 games.
Could win a game off his own boot, and although he did go missing occasionally in Finals, he was capable of a moment of brilliance at any point in time.
Loved Milney.

That was a great watch, really was mercurial, and probably even a bit underratedbigred wrote:Sure he went missing in finals a bit...

Like the Capt...quiet in the big dance
But good players get hounded in a gf
Can remember being in the pocket at footy park when he kicked that freak goal against the power

I don't think his career got/gets the recognition it deserves.

His final against the cats in 2010 was amazing. Got us to the big dance with one qtr of brilliance.

Re: How good was this bloke...
It was unfortunate he had that court case hanging over his head in the finish of his career. One of my all time favourite players.

Re: How good was this bloke...
Yes he would... Just ahead of Alan Davis. IMO
As would Riewoldt, Hayes
Fisher, Dal Santo and Montagna would be close...
I'll have a crack
Frawley - Murray - Lawrence
Howell - Roberts - Barker
Winmar - Stewart - Bray
Riewoldt - Loewe. - Baldock
Milne - Lockett - Mohr
Ditterich - Harvey - Smith
Burke - Hayes - Morrow - Neale
Unlucky
Oswald, McNamara, Ross, Fisher, Breen, Hudghton, Giffiths, Montagna, Burns, Elliot, Davis, Jones, Dal Santo,
Hard to judge pre war players really...

Re: How good was this bloke...
I reckon that team holds up against those of just about any other team too
Gehrig is stiff too though that's the right call
