What's an acceptable loss to Port?
Round 1 is normally an exciting week and something you look forward to.
TBH I'm dreading it this year!
Port at home with something to prove after last year's debacle.
Hoping for plenty of rain/diabolical weather that hinders scoring and a 40 point or less defeat.
Sadly, a ten goal drubbing seems on the cards.

That's pretty negative SP. Today was in the heat when they were underdone. I expect some changes - McCartin, Goddard, Sinclair, Templeton, longer might come in. Armo, Steven, Joey, Gilbo, Fish, Demps, Newnes, Ross, ACres will all be better for the run. I want us to keep it to under 30 points.

Port have looked ok in the pre season
With a big parochial crowd we'll get nothing from the umps so i reckon that a heavy loss in the order of eight plus goals .
I do hope the boys can take what ever chances they get and stick it up em
Go saintas
Prove me wrong

Less than 8 goals would be nice.
Could blow out to 10-12 goals if we chunk it too much

Blow out on the cards. We will try our guts out for the first half and get blown away in the 3rd. Deja vu.

Well, don't forget, that noone can ever tear them apart but I hope we tear them a new one!

Not negative juts realistic.evo wrote:The negativity around here is astounding!
The lack of prep caused by the game cancellation can't be underestimated.
Do you think our club had a plan B for a cancelled game?

No loss should be acceptable.

Yes. They stayed in their pyjamas and watched daytime TV all week.saintspremiers wrote:Not negative juts realistic.evo wrote:The negativity around here is astounding!

IMO there is no such thing as an acceptable loss. There are only acceptable levels of effort.

Would be happy to lose by around 35 but it'll probably be around 50-60 pts. Hopefully no more.

Under 50 points - our last two losses to them have been by over ten goals.

Re: What's an acceptable loss to Port?
The effort yesterday was commendable. We never gave up and played the game out despite being very rusty. I think the time has well and trule come for Lee to be persevered with at CHB.kosifantutti wrote:Yes. Re: What's an acceptable loss to Port?
It's hard to beat Port when we never seem to play them in Melbourne.
9 of our 26 meetings have been played in Melbourne, including a staggering 3 of our last 18 meetings.
No wonder we're their bunnies. After winning our first 5 straight against them we have only won 5 of the past 21.
Yes we played 4 "home games" at York Park for one win over the journey, but figures are still crazy. Since this experiment ended 11 years ago we have played them in Melbourne only 3 times.
Something smells.
Port by 10 goals.

Two goal win.
Our pin point ball movement will be the difference.

Re: What's an acceptable loss to Port?
Threads with this title just perpetuate the notion of "accepting mediocrity"...
We may not win, but pre-planning a level of loss that is acceptable is plain pathetic.
If we play s*** and lose by one point I will be very disappointed... If we play well and have a crack but lose to a better side then so be it.
I'd like to see a win.

There's no such thing as an acceptable loss, even a draw is a no result. Attitude is everything
