Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
Can someone do their best to explain how the ALFPA backs in McConville's conduct ?
Like literally, mind blown.

Re: Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
They protect their own. And they have no understanding of the concept of agency.
I heard someone on radio suggesting we had no cause of action against Jakey or McConville, because afpla said so.
Codswallop. We have legal rights oozing out of every orifice at Seaford. We just have to make the best decision as a club as to how to use them. Giving Jakey a haircut on his salary and forcing him to ditch McConville are no brainers. imho.

That is the article I was referencing, I am literally gobsmacked that there is no duty of care to disclose this information.
It makes me feel sick to the stomach that they knowingly were going to bring the club into disrepute before the contract was even signed.
Shows how much respect you have for the football club, how you could look Nick Reiwoldt who has broken his body for this club in the eye after this is beyond me.
It's important to note I am not talking about slipping up even Nick had his moment. I am talking about knowingly being deceitful and showing zero respect for your future teamates as long as you get the $$$

Re: Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
Sounds like the first positive step would be to wind the AFLPA up and start afresh. They were far from conspicuous in relation to the Essendon saga and they seem to be keeping up their "good" work in this situation as well. AFLPA: What did you know Mr. McConville - "oh, very little". That's alright then. Case closed. Sheesh.

Re: Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
Our CEO, as former chief of the AFLPA, would have dealt with McConville over a long period,
as allies in getting the best possible outcomes for players. Now for Finnis, he is finding out
what it's like from the other end.
The conversations those two would have had this week would have been interesting.
Currently on his books at Mac's Sports, McConville has a few other St Kilda players - Cameron Shenton,
Jarryn Geary and the now de-listed Daniel Markworth. http://www.macs-sports.com.au
The inaction from the AFL is deafening. They probably never thought a player could be this stupid, or a
player-manager so venal. By sucking down the rage at the unfairness of the way the cards have fallen
the Saints are looking quite noble, refusing to be drawn into a "he-said, no he didn't" sh*tfight, and
taking the hits to the body that the AFL and its draft system should have protected us from.
Sad to say, all Clubs are on notice now - player-managers will conceal what they can to get the deal
over the line, and then it's your problem, chump. Anthony McConville thus reminds me more of a
certain dealer in used motors...

Re: Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
We should put pressure on Geary and Shenton to sever ties with this devious piece of filth.

I know we won't follow this through, we're just going to cop it like we always do..
Even in the papers today, they referred Lovett to our previous culture. FFS, that was Essendon, not us!
Any changes (if any) to Carlisle's contract will be very interesting.. I'm so sick of us getting the raw deal..

Re: Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
I too am gobsmacked that the AFLPA just went after its "inquiries" they felt nothing to see here.
Q: Ant, mate, mate, did you have any idea about this, and the legal and moral ramifications for your client, plus we're wondering uf you understand the duty of care towards him?
A: Nope.
Response: Well mate, thanks for your open and honest insight into your role as manager. Mate we're clear that you've upheld the agents Code of Conduct. Thanks maaaaatttttteeee.
If I was the club a complaint should be lodged with the AFL asking for it to referred to its integrity unit for further investigation. This whole situation has a stink anout it, if only because how is it up until Wednesday, no-body supposedly knew that Jake had a propensity for using illicit drugs. And therein lies their duty of care towards a player.
On a higher note, the AFLPA's response and the screams of silence from AFL only reinforce my opinion that it's either a subject too difficult to deal with, or they really don't give a stuff about what players do as long as they can continue to rake in the dough off their backs.
And they wonder that fans like me, question the "integrity" of the game.
Never mind, Mr McConville will learn the financial way, a new and financially disadvantaged contract means less $$$$$ in his pocket. Good.

Re: Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
If you chase the "AFLPA Money Trail", it leads to Brad Wira in Perth....
USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Re: Anthony McConville and the ALFPA
McConville has a duty of care to his client. Why would he act on some ACA accusation? If he did then surely no one would have had the guts to take Carlisle so he ends up going nowhere. Remember it's ACA we are talking about. Not saying McConville did the right thing by the Saints, but he did the right thing by his client.

Yes, did the right thing by his client which ..... led to the best thing by him %%%
The timing of the release of the video and the handling by Jake's manager is a disgrace and no coincidence.
Won't go into what I think of Jake's form.

There are plenty of deceitful and immoral things you could do for the benefit of your client.magnifisaint wrote:McConville has a duty of care to his client. Why would he act on some ACA accusation? Getting the thumbs up from an AFL endorsed governing body is another thing entirely.
Who cares if it's ACA... surely you ask the question of your client there and then if it has any legs.
Instead of Jake Carlisle taking the hit to his back account for his stupidity. We look like fools, are the ones who pay for his mistake, his bank account is tops and the AFLPA give it the rubber stamp.
