Paid what we had to pay to get a guy we wanted so paid the right price. And the club seem happy.

Brilliant work. Saints held out until they could improve the deal in our direction.

That Adrian Dodo sounds like a pretentious turd if media quotes are believed. Great job Ameet!

I really couldn't care what Essendon or Sydney or anyone else got.

We did very well. Carlisle, Freeman and Rice plus 14 great value considering the picks we had. Of course only time will tell but it will be fun watching.

As long as we don't pick up the next Brad Howard with it (pick 14).

Very slight overs.

But he fits a hole very well.

Gave away pick 5 for Carlisle like Dodoro wanted.

So kind of Dodoro to throw in 376 steak knives by upgrading our pick 24 to 14.

I don't know what it feels like to be reamed, but I think the feeling I have at the moment must be pretty similar.

Those 376 steak knives would have cost Dodoro pick 43 (an early 3rd rounder) in the AFL charity shop.

The biggest winner is AFL HQ and they didn't pay anything.
If WADA wins and players are suspended, the number of players involved still at Essendon is reduced.
So long as Essendon can field a credible team AFL HQ can provide 9 matches per week for broadcast and we all know that means $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

We still get a first round pick along with a ready made key position player. A pass mark I reckon.

The spine is coming along well. Let's hope Freeman can get his body right and really add something to the midfield.

I will wait to the WADA decision to see. Could be a great pick up, could be a disaster.

Its impossible to evaluate how good our horse trading was this year as its all just potential at the moment - not much different than the draft. All we've done is trade potential in (Carlisle, Freeman, pick 14) and trade potential out (pick 5, 2nd rounder, next year 2nd rounder). How all that talent on both sides actualises is the million dollar question. CArlisle hasn't been consistently great, Freeman has barely played any senior footy and pick 14 could be anything or nothing. Don's pick 5 could be the next Hodge or not so much. Will lend itself to pages and pages of debate no doubt arguments as it all plays out over the next few years. But if Carlisle and Freeman have crackers in rd 1 then I'll feel a lot better.

What does "paid overs" mean? Is this some new "buzz word" doing the coffee shop / wine bar circuit?

I think he'll be a valuable asset but paid overs due to the ban hanging over his head and the slight d**khead factor which no Saints fan is under any illusion about now. But this isn't to say in a few years time if you include who we get for 14 could be viewed as very wise dealing.

we paid well over - one more day of stalling and a second round pick or into the psd with him. The guy is rated on one good year and potential. Kosi had one good year and potential. And Kosi didn't crack the sooks, but gave his all. not happy, but that's life. Welcome and let's hope he matures really quickly. And i'm not talking about his recreational activities, but his on and off field behaviour over the last year. He owes the club, so fingers crossed he has the mentality to push himself and excell.
