Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Carlisle has knee tendonitis .. probably explains why he hasn't been able to recapture his early form - and improve with time, as you'd expect from a kpp?

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Starting to think we:
1. Keep pick 5 (Mathieson?)
2. Trade second round for Freeman
3. Pick 42 for Rice
Gamble on PSD for Carlisle

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
I'm actually quite keen on the idea of splitting pick 5 into two first round picks and taking both to the draft. Say we end up with a pick in the 8-12 range and another in the mid/late teens we could offer the latter pick for Carlisle (no one could say we didn't try) which Essendon could either take or leave. If they still refuse, we draft two of Mathieson/Clarke/Collins/Balic/Curnow/Tucker, front load Carlisle's contract so he's getting about $1.2mil for the first two years and take him in the PSD. 2nd rounder for Freeman, 42 on Rice. Come out of it all with next year's draft picks intact.fugazi wrote:Starting to think we:

That doesn't make you more successful at draft time. There's still over a week to go.fugazi wrote:Henderson to Geelong for next years round 1 pick...got to admire Cats for how they get things done.

This trade week could quite easily set the Cats up for a decade of misery.

No more Clarke. They have snappy hamstrings so provide poor value for draft picks.mad saint guy wrote:I'm actually quite keen on the idea of splitting pick 5 into two first round picks and taking both to the draft. Could Ahmed Saad be about to depart Seaford? It's been an interesting journey for the small forward and Trade Radio's Mitch Cleary reports Collingwood is interested in the 26-year-old.
The Pies and Saints are set to deal for injury-prone youngster Nathan Freeman, could Saad be part of that negotiation?
Make this happen!!

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Seriously? Hasn't he had back problems too. And god know what bombers injected him with. His genitals could fall off at any point. This gets curiouser and curiouser. Richo's strong connection with him and desire for finals next year could be clouding his judgement. Richo has strong cache within the club after a year so much better than expected and would have a powerful influence on list management and recruiting. Carlisle could be the next Tom Lee.samoht wrote:Carlisle has knee tendonitis .. probably explains why he hasn't been able to recapture his early form - and improve with time, as you'd expect from a kpp?
And then why is Freeman leaving pies who are a great shot at finals and have an exciting young list? Because he gets a huge salary as 3rd year player who hasn't played a game of AFL by switching to a team desperate for mids. Two years with the huge resources of Collingwood couldn't get him out there? Deep concerns there.
Are cool heads looking at all this with losing our extremely valuable pick 5? Troubling times.

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
The Weller trade rumour can be put to bed, They no longer have 16
The Suns received the Dockers' first-round (No.16) and second-round (No.35) picks in exchange for Bennell and the Suns' second-round pick (No.22)
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-14/h ... s-a-docker
But the Suns may be an attractive alternative if we can work something out, 10 and 16

I hope we can trade for more draft picks. Pick 5,then picking up Rice with about our 3rd pick. We need to get more involved in the draft than this.

Pick 5 for Weller and 2016 1st Round
Freo's 2016 1st round for Carlisle
McCarthy for Pick 5 and Freo's 2016 2nd Round
Something like that??? If we turn 5 into Carlisle and Weller, I'd go to work without pants on next week....

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Big question has to be asked. Are the GWS and GC going to be massive failures? Are they just a vanity projects for Andrew Demetriou? If the exodus of players keeps happening year in year out they are going to be failures. I think GWS are going to be ok but GC will always be a problem.
