Coaching refresh needed>
How long have all of our assistant coaches had their jobs> How have each performed?
Our midfield coach Adam Kingsley has been there quite a while and I cant say I am happy with the performance of our midfield overall.
Is Aaron Hamill our only fprward coach> Again not happy with how the forwards are travelling.
Defensive coach, Danny is part time, is their a full time coach?
Peta has just being given a new contract so she is safe, and she appears to be going a good job with the youngsters
Their are a few ex=Sainters out there now I would like to see get a coaching spot with the Saints, such as Lenny, maybe schneids, and Xavier Clark has been doing well coaching in Darwin.
Anybody want to add their thoughts?

Re: Coaching refresh needed>
Pretty hard to tell how the assistant coaches are travelling when the list is so out of shape.
I don’t see the point in going for more ex saints at all unless they are the best available… much more to be gained by bringing in experience from other clubs.

Kingsley is a major asset from all reports. Future senior coach somewhere.

BT couldn't stop praising Adam throughout the telecast on Saturday night..FQF wrote:Kingsley is a major asset from all reports. Future senior coach somewhere.
Hopefully we can get Lenny in as a development coach at some stage.

The way I see it was 5 weeks ago most in the media said we have had a great season but when you lose like we have in the last 2 games we all of a sudden forget most of the year and look at all the negatives. I have no idea if we need new coaches or not. I doubt any of us do but I do know that the major reason for us being where we are on the ladder is the lack of good enough players. Changing coaches is unlikely to solve that. We need time and patience and a hell of a lot of luck.

I'm happy to leave our panel well alone. They seem to be a cohesive unit so there's absolutely no need for change. The fact that the entire list appeared cooked the last two games masked the progress we made this season.magnifisaint wrote:it's very trueplugger66 wrote:The way I see it was 5 weeks ago most in the media said we have had a great season but when you lose like we have in the last 2 games we all of a sudden forget most of the year and look at all the negatives. Sort of think Hammill had a bit to do with Bruce kicking 50 goals this year, plus not having Billings for a good part of the season hasn't helped our forward structure. He showed what he is capable of in that win against Bulldogs.
From what has been reported, Schneider has a really good football brain so maybe he could get a gig and someone mentioned Aussie Jones who has been successful coach would be interesting.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Lindsay Gilbee and Paul Hudson are our development coaches, we couldn't find to better kicks of the footy if we triedstkfc1 wrote:The only coach we need is a skills coach. Learn to hit a target and everything else will take care of itself.

To late to fix players skills once they come to a club. Well for most players. Need to recruit players with good skills but they need to also get the ball.

Re: Coaching refresh needed>
I guess once all things are reviewed, all coaches will have their performance compared to whatever benchmark is in place. Regardless of the players used in whatever roles, the coaches are there to perform a function and will be tested on their results. The coaches can't just shrug their shoulders and blame players if targets are not fully met- if that was the case, we could save a lot of money by getting rid of specialist coaches as they have no actual responsibilities. I would expect our midfield coach and skills coaches would be under a bit of extra pressure over summer to improve those key areas.

Re: Coaching refresh needed>
The last thing I want to see are ex Sainters at the club coaching. Just because they might have been great players it doesn't mean they know how to coach. The last thing we need is slagging off past players and having them sacked because they can't coach.

Strange OP calling for a coaching restructure when the poster doesn't even know what coaches do what or who they all are .....
For the record our coaching structure is:
Director of coaching- Danny Sexton
Head Coach - Richo
Forwards coach - Hamill
Midfield coach - Kingsley (who has the highest AFL coaching accreditation )
Back line coach - Rohan Welsh
Ruck coach - Adam Skrobalak
With Danny Frawley as a specialist defensive coach

Re: Coaching refresh needed>
Richo is on record as bemoaning our "lack of scoreboard pressure"
and how our numerous forward 50 entries do not result in many goals at all.
A matter of public record and can't be argued.
So, are the players not following team rules or instructions?
Whatever they're doing, it ain't working.
As much as Hamill was a fantastic player with huge heart,
a great player may not necessarily translate to good coaching knowledge.
I would love to see Hamill leave and be replaced by another Forwards coach, who has results.
If the ball keeps getting in there, we need a better return.
He's had long enough.

Re: Coaching refresh needed>
Hahaha there was more Falcons on the Friday training!!! I can honestly say it's one of the most stressful times of the game for me I've got 23 balls flying at me bouncing in all directions and I gotta get them back to the boys as quick as possible all while trying hard not to stack it by tripping on the net infront of everyone and possible TV cameras .....loris wrote:Hey Trav which one has been coaching you at retrieving balls after Saints practise kicks for goal???st_Trav_ofWA wrote:Strange OP calling for a coaching restructure when the poster doesn't even know what coaches do what or who they all are .....

I love it though!!!
By the end of it I'm almost dead full credit to the fitness of the players the first warm up kills me and I'm not even doing any of it

Personally I like the stability- given the instability we have had at the top-
Ross went through assistants annually
- teams/ groups who get consistent messages can then learn that over more than 8-10 months- and more like a few years
but on the subject- apparently Kingsley has been interviewed by Adelaide
