Re: Calrton request priority pick
I don't think we did request it.Trixilver wrote:Did we request one last year? I know we didn't get one.
Melbourne did and were knocked back and then handed pick 3 for Frawley as FA compensation. Maybe Carlton are trying the same tactic.

Re: Calrton request priority pick
They should get a priority pick because the AFL forced them to recruit;
Matthew Watson
Blaine Boekhurst
Liam Jones
Sam Docherty
Kristian Jaksch
Jason Tutt
Andrejs Everitt &
DALE THOMAS!

Re: Calrton request priority pick
The Saints had suggested last year we were going to ask for a priority picks and then we smashed Freo that day or the next day.
They have no chance.
Someone has to finish last.
Gibbs and Thomas were injured for most of the season
They played finals a couple of years ago so no chance

Re: Calrton request priority pick
I am content and supremely satisfied knowing that Carlscum are sooooo desperate as to ask for a leg up
May it last a long long time

Re: Calrton request priority pick
A club should lose a draft pick if they make a request for a priority pick which is turned down. Keep them honest.

I also doubt they'd get a priority pick.

Re: Calrton request priority pick
Fairly obvious that Carlton are trying to do what Melbourne accomplished last year ie: Frawley Compo pick when they asked for a priority pick (which they didn't get) but got the dodgy 1st round compensation pick instead
If Carlton lose Kreuzer to another club (say on a 600,000 year contract - if the Collingwood rumours are correct) then the compensation will probably be end of 1st round but some will argue that it is boardline 1st round to end of 1st round
Taking this into account the Bluescum are acting in desperation and crying poor in the hope that the AFL feel sorry for them and give them a 1st round compensation pick (pick 2) ala Melbourne last year re: Frawley pick
What is most obvious though is that the Brownbaggers do not deserve to receive a priority pick nor should they get a 1st round compensation pick for Kreuzer taking onto account his recent playing record and that 600,000 a year should be outside the Band 1 grade given that the salary cap is about to be enlargened.
They are playing the game Melbourne did but their sob sorry is far less convincing given their half decent recent record and that the state of their list (draft / trading decisions) has been self imposed
I'm sure the AFL would love to give them a leg up but how do they justify it to 15 other clubs?? Actually 14 if you take out Brisbane as they are doing the same thing
No to Priority pick and end of first round compensation pick (Band 2 - say 20 i think) for Kreuzer if he leaves - anything more and it will be an absolute disgrace
We got Band 3 (I think??) for Dal Santo (after 2nd round comp pick)

Re: Calrton request priority pick
I reckon they are asking cause Kruiser doesn't want to go ... They are facing a huge backlash if they push him out the door just for the pick so they are trying their luck to be able to keep Kruiser and still get the first two picks ... It will get knocked back Carlton will off load Kruiser and the media will go to town and the AFL will over react and the FA compo will disappear next year

Re: Calrton request priority pick
I hope die-hard Blues fans were thrilled to watch the performances of Laidler, Betts and Jacobs yesterday.
The Blues parallel the StKilda we experienced in the late 1970's, early 1980. Trade out good players then run cap in hand to the League.
They are a disgrace.

Re: Calrton request priority pick
Carlton has taken our record this year for the biggest difference between goals kicked by former players v goals kicked by current players. Kennedy, Betts, Waite etc have kicked many more goals than Carlton this year.Trev from the Bush wrote:I hope die-hard Blues fans were thrilled to watch the performances of Laidler, Betts and Jacobs yesterday.

Our 1926 team previously held that record.
