I am an unashamed Minchi fan! I believe he is the type of kid that will keep on improving with opportunities. Good on him!

Re: Minchy gets another year
Great news for Minch. I have always liked the way that he moves with urgency.
It was looking a bit touch & go for a while, but last week did him no harm. Hopefully, a lot more games next year to prove himself.

I have to keep telling myself there are parallels with Joey at the start of his career. Just dream in' I guess....
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: Minchy gets another year
Tries hard but doesn't get enough of the ball. Depth player only and will struggle to get a game next year with Billings and others play a full season.

Happy for Minch...just reckon we might be overestimating our list.
We seem to have re-signed everyone and anyone.
Love the teams effort and spirit but we need to be hard headed about skill and quality otherwise we are a team of B graders.

Re: Minchy gets another year
Got to say with some of the extensions the club must think the draft is very ordinary.

Re: Minchy gets another year
Glad to have Minchy on as depth for another year..
draft must be shallow this year.

Re: Minchy gets another year
Not sure about this to be honest
Hasn't set the world alight and I never get when midfielders from the VFL never actually play midfield in the AFL, and take a spot on a forward flank :/

Re: Minchy gets another year
Gotta say, hats off to Minchy who somehow keeps doing just enough, right when we think its over, to keep his AFL dream alive. If not for his 3 goals vs Geelong, I think he might have been in trouble.

Re: Minchy gets another year
He has attributes we need; speed, skills and a good goal sense. I'd like to see him follow Joey around the track all pre season to learn how to lift his production and start accumulating more of the footy. If he could start winning 20 touches per game he'd be an asset.

Re: Minchy gets another year
He has the skills, but like quite a few of our players, needs a lot of work on the tank over summer to see out the four quarters.

Re: Minchy gets another year
I'd like to think these short contract extensions subconsciously ingrain the belief that if they do not work their ass off in the off-season and then translate that work onto on-field performance that they wont get a game.
By that same thought process, I'm worried that that long contract given to Acres might have made him a little lazy.. (I really hope he comes good)

The unusual length of the Acres contract suggests to me two things:Saintberra wrote:I'd like to think these short contract extensions subconsciously ingrain the belief that if they do not work their ass off in the off-season and then translate that work onto on-field performance that they wont get a game.

1. The club identified a real 'go home' risk; and/or
2. The club believes that his value will significantly increase in the near future.

I think Minch proves kicking isn't everything. Siposs confirms it.

And on the flip side, i think Geary also proves kicking isn't everything, as does Rooeyplugger66 wrote:#gosaintas wrote:Maybe he could teach a few of the others to kick
