Saints Membership & Crowds for the last 30 years
Yeah not a sleeping giant...Think this needs it's own thread. Looks like we picked up some permanent traction from the 2010/2011 seasons...other than that what can you say...It spikes when we have a good team like everyone's to a degree and we have historically low members and low crowds.
Re: Saints Membership & Crowds for the last 30 years
Unfortunately its impossible to compare membership numbers every year. The different categories now compared to what wasn't counted years ago makes it impossible. All you can do is compare us to other clubs year by year and that's very depressing.

There is no such thing as "rusted on" followers anymore. There are too many other recreational options, its also very expensive for young families to go to the footy every week. Winners are grinners and it's they who maintain their following.
Unfortunately, things are not looking good for the Saints for future Membership.

So you're not rusted on?
I am!
Rust never sleeps!

Problem is that we don't have dog and cat memberships like the Western Bulldogs. Maybe if we had discounted memberships for the clergy we might get to 40,000
Posting 20 years of holey crap!

Re: Saints Membership & Crowds for the last 30 years
maybe if they really looked after interstate members with some better deals for the rather high membership prices they charge they might get a few more on board
id like to know the break up of the total amounts
melb members
interstate members, then broke down in to each state
international members
junior members
etc
would be interesting to see the figures

We had pet memberships a few years ago. I wonder if not having them now has contributed to the decline in membership numbers.magnifisaint wrote:Problem is that we don't have dog and cat memberships like the Western Bulldogs. I will go out on a limb and say no. Anyway there are so many member categories now that didn't exist or weren't counted a few years ago that are now.

We have to accept the Saints will always be one of the leagues minows, that is not going to change! What we can change as a club is how we grow our revenue like NZ games and escaping the Etihad deal...
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!

We're doing better than the bullies though and almost north...but yeah...minnows

NZ is the key WinnersOnly. If we embrace it full on it can boost our membership numbers. Not just the extra numbers that buy memberships in NZ but also the thousands of kiwi's that emigrate to Australia each year. With a little luck and success, when they reach our shores it will be automatic for them to barrack for St Kilda. I already know 2 people at work who are kiwis and they now barrack for St Kilda. I admit, they are not members but surely this has got to be a good thing?WinnersOnly wrote:We have to accept the Saints will always be one of the leagues minows, that is not going to change! If we play there next season, and that's only a maybe, it could be our last game there. If its the key then our club is stuffed. I'm afraid you know little about footy from how you post. Nothing wrong with that because we want this site to be open to all even people like you.
