Why don't we get many Rising Star Nominations?
Just wondering as we seem to have had a fair amount of early draft picks over the past few years.
I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

Don't have an answer. It's pretty tough to argue for anyone in particular this season, maybe Sinclair could have got one for a few consistent weeks, but that's about it.
Boy do we get a lot against us though - seems every second week someone gets nominated from our opposition.

Maybe, just maybe, our young guys aren't as good or consistent as other clubs young guys.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

18 clubs, 23 rounds.
If you get one nom you're doing ok, if you get two your doing well. We have been behind the eight ball for a while due to having an aging list, poor drafts and compromised drafts.

Whilst those figures are right lower clubs should always get more nominations than top clubs. At this stage you would be hoping for around 2 a year not that it really matters.

Re: Why don't we get many Rising Star Nominations?
Gold Coast & GWS have the majority of the good rookies, they should get a large portion Rising Star nominations
Re: Why don't we get many Rising Star Nominations?
Sinclair won't be eligible, he's played more than 10 games which is the cutoff. The only ones currently on the list who could get nominations next year are:lewdogs wrote:Lonie got nominated yeah? Think Hugh and Paddy will get nominated next yr. Sinclair too you'd think as he's amazing.
Goddard
McCartin
McKenzie
Payne
White
The others are too old (need to be less than 21 on Jan 1st) or have played too many games.

Why do they have the majority of the good rookies? They draft about 6 players a year same as every other team.Toy Saint wrote:Gold Coast & GWS have the majority of the good rookies, they should get a large portion Rising Star nominations

Good rookies the key in toy saints statement. Check the draft picks they've had.bergholt wrote:Why do they have the majority of the good rookies? Sure. But 95% of those guys are no longer eligible for the Rising Star.Old Mate wrote:Good rookies the key in toy saints statement. Re: Why don't we get many Rising Star Nominations?
The point is the more talented the player the more chance they get a rising star nom (so long as they're getting a game). GWS for example last year had 4-5 picks inside the first 25 draft picks hence why they brought in more talent and have more chance at receiving noms.bergholt wrote:Sure.
