Saints AFLplayers MVP Awards night
each team votes for 3 players to contest the MVP
then all teams vote on players except those from their team
( Gary Ablett has NOT been nominated)
the Saints 3 are yet to be announced but who do you think will be nominated by the Saints players?
I suggest
Steven
Armitage
Newnes

Re: Saints AFLplayers MVP nominees
Most valuable for our side or for the opposition? The most valuable players in any team are those who, when they get the ball, dispose of it to a teammate. An efficiency rate of 80+% is required for a team that is looking to move up the ladder. Getting the ball 25 times but giving it away or missing targets 20 times is a waste of time. I'm not sure we have too many players in the 80+% category. In fact, I can't think of anyone who can deliver a 25 metre precision kick to a leading forward. We used to have them. Players like Nicky Winmar, Robert Harvey, Luke Ball, Brendon Goddard (who seems to have lost it at Essendon), Lenny Hayes and Nick Dal Santo. Of course, these are top echelon players, but until we get at least one or two, we will be no where. A few of our younger players show promise this regard, like the three Jacks, Billings, Lonie and Sinclair. Jack Newnes is a good long kick to position, but his handpassing, like most of the rest of the team, is poor. All players must be able to handpass three metres softly and accurately and twenty five metres with strength and direction. This is the easiest skill to improve upon, certainly a lot easier than kicking. We appear to have made no ground in this regard this year. Too often, a handball to someone just a few metres away fell at his feet or missed him entirely. Effort this year was always around 100%. Team coaching tactics won us a few bonus games. They were the pluses.

I don't see why he should win. The way I see it it should be bloody close. $1.92 each of 2.
