weren't you calling for Roo to be subbed a few weeks ago Flog? <user warned for abuse>ROLS-LEE wrote:Keeping Farren is a good insurance policy if the draft is as shallow as they make out. We have had a relative good run with injuries this year compared to previous years and would have played more games

Ray is an ok player - a walk up in an average team
We won't go forward with Rays in our side
Desperately short of quality

They can't all be superstars Teflon. You need a core of good solid professionals. Of which Ray is one.Teflon wrote:bigcarl wrote: And that's the problem

But yes. We need quality and a lot of it going on today's performance.

Right now we dont have 1 superstar in the midfield - best sides all do
Ray is 29 , average kick , ok player not the future

I hope Farren receives a contract extension, I personally think he has a bit more to offer than a Schneider etc

If Faz was a leader mentor type I could go with another year, but he ain't, so on ya bike mate!
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

I'd keep him, he has terrific overhead marks, and is versatile.

I'd rather get games into D-Mac and Acres.
We also have Roberton, Savage and Newnes who can play a similar position.

Re: Farren wants to play for 2 more years
I see acres in the same position. Prefer Blake in the side.
But you can see it from Faz's POV, one year and then gone. If someone else takes him (Melb were in to him last year?) then he might get the same 1 year or 2. Worth a punt for him to hold out, but could be left with 0.

If any other club wants him he should go but I doubt anyone would be interested in a 29 year old who has played more reserves games than senior games this year. A perfect reason we shouldn't be interested either but it seems we are. Still haven't worked out why,

Because they obviously know there are 5 or 6 others who they are going to let go at the end of the year.plugger66 wrote:Rosco wrote:I see acres in the same position. Prefer Blake in the side.

He can ask for 2 years but doesn't mean he's going to get it.
Has faults but been a solid player. His time is almost up and I'd prefer we moved on and got on with it.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
Re: Farren wants to play for 2 more years
Totally agree with this. A senior player who only played a few games this year and doesn't really provide extra leadership is a waste of a spot.Bernard Shakey wrote:If Faz was a leader mentor type I could go with another year, but he ain't, so on ya bike mate!
Re: Farren wants to play for 2 more years
Agreed he should go if so, but he'll probably only get 1 elsewhere as well. I'd expect him not to hold out too long.plugger66 wrote:Rosco wrote:I see acres in the same position. Prefer Blake in the side.
