Re: OUT: Basil IN: Hornsby
He's a loss. I've been incredibly impressed how we've been running out games this year. Obviously Richo has bought the "run harder, run longer" philosophy from Port, and it's been implemented pretty successfully. Hope the new bloke can pick up where Basil has left off.
Re: OUT: Basil IN: Hornsby
They're not doing that. The article says "Current High Performance Manager, Adam Basil, will continue in the role until the end of the season. Hornsby will start with the club in October."stjay wrote:Has to be a back story there. Unusual to make this change mid-season.
Presumably Basil decided it was a boring gig, which it probably is. He could make twice as much doing fitness coaching for rich execs.
Re: OUT: Basil IN: Hornsby
Yeah. Who knows? Noticed he was staying on until the end of the season which does suggest he initiated it. Olympics around the corner too.bergholt wrote:They're not doing that. Maybe he wants to work for an inner city club.

That was rumored earlier in the year was't it? Carlton of Collingwood sniffing around, can't remember which.

Re: OUT: Basil IN: Hornsby
The team has quite clearly been healthier/fitter than in the past. A few early hammy issues seem to have been fixed.
Something internally is at play here - I wonder what has gone wrong?? It seems that you can't keep everyone happy, all of the time.

These high performance guys turn over very quickly at all clubs. I doubt there's anything in it.

Re: OUT: Basil IN: Hornsby
I can't see that this is good news, after the way we have been super fit, running out last quarters and have had fewer hamstring problems. Also, "expert" and "Richmond" don't belong in the same sentence.

So the guy who we got from the Tigers is responsible for 30 years of ordinary output?

Maybe we could get that genius Misson back,
The bloke who's got the Demons flying.
The same genius who convinced master coach Lyon that Ball could only play six minutes at a time.

Agreed. From an outsiders perspective he Seems like one of the better ones we've had in recent years.St Chris wrote:He's a loss. Whilst we are fitter and running out games better in both the ones and twos - you only have to look at Billings throughout this year to see why Basil was moved on. Jacks issues this year can be attributed to his fitness management, and he is not alone.
The review at the start of the year after all of those injuries was not glowing for him from all reports.

Re: OUT: Basil IN: Hornsby
realistically its best practice to flip these guys regularly for their career they want to be involved with as many top class organisations and for the team changing up the routine can be a good thing ... its not like these guys reinvent the wheel a lot of the practices are simular from one to the other

I think that's very harsh. His record this year has been great and he isn't a doctor. he is the fitness guy. And are you saying he was sacked?
