sunday games
Not sure if this has come up before..........did we (the club) choose or ask for all these late Sunday games....if we did ...wtf were they thinking....if AFL did wtf were they thinking .As has been pointed out Metro wants to do all their work programs on Sunday so there goes a lot of fans there......and like a lot of people they hate sunday night cause they know they have to get their mind set for Monday.
Anyway I believe it hasn`t help us in the cash department......let Collingwood have Sunday late afro / night

Re: sunday games
Didn't have many when we were flying. Pretty simple to fix.

Re: sunday games
This scheduling shows AFL contempt for the supporters. Nothing more than that needs to be said.

You could've gone straight to Etihad from the game.
I worked today and finished at 4.15 and got there (just) for the first bounce. What a wasted effort that was:lol:

Re: sunday games
I hate them and judging by the crowds so too do the majority of supporters.
I should have stayed home in front of the fire and watched the game on telly.
Instead I spent $26 to park in the ground, drove an hour there and an hour and a half to get home, so I could be completely peeved by the performance.
The problem is public transport on a Sunday night is somewhat sparse so you really have to drive if I want to get home early enough to get up the next morning for work.
Friday and Saturday night games are fine because I can sleep in.
I am even happy with Sunday afternoon games but it is these twilight ones that give me the sh***.
I will seriously consider my membership if we get as many again next year.

Re: sunday games
Metro also do some on Saturday's too. Both of the Western Bulldogs games were very difficult to get to because of the trains not operating on our major lines and the usual hassles with the replacement buses!seano1 wrote:Not sure if this has come up before..........did we (the club) choose or ask for all these late Sunday games....if we did ...wtf were they thinking....if AFL did wtf were they thinking .As has been pointed out Metro wants to do all their work programs on Sunday so there goes a lot of fans there......and like a lot of people they hate sunday night cause they know they have to get their mind set for Monday.

Re: sunday games
This time slot is a fargon joke - NO club likes them and the crowds vote with their feet but still AFL flogs persist
why not play more Sat twightlight instead and that can run into a sat eve match at G or elsewhere?
Just poor planning /timing.

Re: sunday games
I never usually leave a game early regardless of score but I did last night.. Bloody stupid time for a game, esp during the cold of winter and work the next day... I wasn't the only one either

I also left at three quarter time, the score plus the freezing cold just got too much.
And the noticeable aspect of the crowd? No kids, a couple of little tackers on the train on the way home, but the kids have school the next day, and that is the concern, the kids aren't coming to the games.
Compare that to the days of the VFL days, every Saturday at 2pm, the shops had closed for the day, not much else happened in Melbourne in those days but the majority of us on this forum started their barracking days going to every home game and eventually moving to away games across Melbourne.
To the up and coming generation of supporters, I feel sorry they miss the continuity of their barracking for the Saints.

Re: sunday games
I left 20 minutes into the last quarter. That takes our score after I have left games this year to 9.3 to 0.3. I might leave the next game at 1/4 time.

I was going to say it doesn't work like that but I missed the Essendon game.
