The 8 Pillars of (membership) success!!!!
St Kilda can reach 75,000 member by 2020. Here's how....
1. Convince the AFL to fork out some money in re-configuring Auckland to make it suitable for AFL.
2. Play 2 Home games every year in New Zealand. ANZAC Day to be played in Wellington and round 20ish to be played in Auckland. Then the following year it would alternate eg ANZAC Day to be played in Auckland and round 20ish to be played in Wellington.
3. Play 1 Pre-season game in New Zealand every year alternating between Wellington and Auckland.
4. Play 3 Home game Blockbusters at the MCG every year.
5. Play a maximum of 6 Home games per year at Docklands.
6. Pre-season training camps to be in New Zealand every year
7. Force the AFL to allow us to have New Zealand as our OWN Academy as per the Northern Clubs.
8. Move our training facilities back to Moorabbin but keep the links to the Junction Oval and Seaford alive. To do this we would need to train there a few times a year (if possible), and continue to play practice/intra club games at Seaford.

Quick question city. Have you ever been to NZ?
Apart from that I dont mind your ideas. 3 Blockbusters at the G would be great if we could convince the AFL to give us home games v the Pies, Bombers and Tiges there. But every club probably asks for the same thing.

The thing about propping up with New Zealand is
A. There's barely any fans in New Zealand of AFL let alone St Kilda.
B. I don't want the teams to be nomads like the late Fitzroy.

Only one of the eight will be the move back to Moorabbin.
The rest is just rubbish

You are garbage - Enough said

Rubbish tread designed for dickheads like me to call this guy a fool. The funny thing he even knows there is no ground in Auckland to play AFL footy and we may not even play a home and away game there next year. That may cost us 7 members though.

Re: The 8 Pillars of (membership) success!!!!
We need some decent fixturing.
Decent fixturing gives you
- decent crowds
- decent exposure
- increased sponsorship
- increased revenue
- increased membership
How can that occur when the AFL only gave us ONE prime time Friday night game for the whole season!
ONE!
The two global mysteries of our time remain
- What became of flight MH370?
- Who was the clown responsible for scheduling Caaarlton to play prime time every second Fri night and what were they thinking?

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Re: The 8 Pillars of (membership) success!!!!
Not a complete rubbish thread, just betting the farm that NZ will be a success.
If we went to Sportsbet and asked the odds of NZ successfully embracing AFL, I'd imagine it would be 20/1
So, betting the very existance of St Kilda football club on a 20/1 shot.
Pass.

Generous. I would say a 1000 to one especially since the Wellington city council have dropped their amount of compensation by 40% and we may not even play there next season. And we wont get home games at the G until we start heading up the ladder so no point, in the short term, worrying about that either.
The only real thing we can control on membership is success.

Membership success? Forget the NZ flop, and just be competitive and win games, plus market the club strongly and smarter. Membership will rise.

Once again a poster dares to put up his/her ideas (opinions really), you add nothing other than insults and "it won't work"plugger66 wrote:Toy Saint wrote:Not a complete rubbish thread, just betting the farm that NZ will be a success.

It's not even a balanced reply on why it won't work - just a reply based on playing the man which is your go
Do something useful, get an opinion, stop borrowing or simply critiquing others or have a holiday
The site doesn't need "opinion reviewers" it actually needs considered input and you offer nothing in that regard that I've ever seen.

My god you are really becoming an amazing stalker. Even disagreeing with my post on this thread but nearly saying the same on another. And teffers I am agreeing with the poster I quoted, just think the odds are bigger than he suggested.Teflon wrote:Once again a poster dares to put up his/her ideas (opinions really), you add nothing other than insults and "it won't work"plugger66 wrote:Toy Saint wrote:Not a complete rubbish thread, just betting the farm that NZ will be a success.

I think you have issues and you are brilliant at wrecking a thread because the thing you accuse me of, you are an expert at. It is really sad. Luckily I believe its said in a funny way for me. And that's for telling me what to do. I rate your opinion so highly I wont take any notice of it at all. Ha Ha.
I hope we beat Port this week. That may add more members next season. Obviously the club think winning is best for the club because they are always picking our best side and playing them in their right positions. Go Saints on Sunday.

Re: The 8 Pillars of (membership) success!!!!
Our best chance to have strong membership is to have sustained success. Our decade long stand towards the top of the ladder will help when those kids get into their 20s. The Hawks memberships now are on the back of the 1980s.

I will because the people who don't rate my posts don't seem to understand footy and most don't seem like good people. Still following. And it seems you really need others to think like you. Why the lack of confidence Teffers? beaten up at school as a kid?

Im unsure the Hawks membership is the back of the 80's to be honest. I think it is due to very hard work by the club and the success now. The 80's was 30 years ago. Why weren't the kids members as soon as they became adults? Anyway we stuffed up in the late 2000's because the club didn't have the management we have now unfortunately.

NZ only care about 3 things: Rugby, Hobbits & ????? (fill in the blank)
Failed experiment IMO.

What about the tourist dollars from Australia from the 5 to 7,000 odd people that have flown over there over the past 3 years?stjay wrote:NZ only care about 3 things: Rugby, Hobbits & ????? (fill in the blank)

That's the real benefit to Wellington, not to grow the game locally.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Thankfully the club and more specifically Finnis have a lot more vision than most of us on here. Those 8 Pillars are exactly what Finnis and the club are working towards.

You do realise they may get out of NZ? And I doubt they have the same ideas as you.
