Yep, in the end it was St Kilda & Essendon players VS James Hird and AFL umpires.jonesy wrote:Still lost the free kick count

Poor Jabber Watson.
The idiots played a clearly injured player.
He then gets denied his 200th banner and now this.
Oh well. Karma's a bitch.

My take - both.
Saints will test any team, probably the most satisfying win in my lifetime (apart from 2/9/1966).
I really got into our prelim wins and those finals against Adelaide and the swans...
This was a fun win, but Essendon are a rabble.
That's the point - we made them rabble!

Personally prefer not to sack Hird, prefer to see him suffer through the WADA charges and inevitable suspensions......I think it was Paul Keating who said "I want to do you slowly......"dragit wrote:They really do... Outstanding result by the umpires. They are the only ones who tried to impart a bias. The Essendon team didn't.jonesy wrote:Still lost the free kick count
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Yes and it was John Hewson who got done slowly. Little different to the Dons who got done fast.Toy Saint wrote:Personally prefer not to sack Hird, prefer to see him suffer through the WADA charges and inevitable suspensions......I think it was Paul Keating who said "I want to do you slowly......"dragit wrote:They really do... 110 points loss
Essendon were clearly suffering from withdrawal symptoms.
Also seems like James Hird does not know how to coach without bomber Thompson to tell him what to do.

Re: Game thread: VS Bombers.
I do love seeing Esendope and Hird suffer and it was a great win by the Saints! But lets not get too ahead of ourselves re the performance, Essendon have hit rock bottom emotionally they have nothing left, they are a shell of themselves.
The irony in all this if Essendon, the AFL and the politicians hadnt attempted to manipulate the ASADA system, they would be out the other side of it by now! Instead their corruption will be a reminder and blight on the game for years to come! Hird you are a hypocritic of the highest order and it will give me great pleasure to see Essendon sack you!

I am not sure that St Lay is saying that they should have played today - I think what they are saying is that the team that played today would be that much stronger when the players mentioned push for selection so hard they cannot be denied!elizabethr wrote:None of these players are best 22 so rubbish post.stjay wrote:No McCartin, No Goddard, No Billings, No Acres and Dunstan on for a quarter.

not sure what the final count re umpires frees but I would think as we laid a shitload of tackles and some of these were maybe not perfect so that may accounted for more frees against us

It was 8 goals to 1 in the last - our best quarter (oh, ok you were taking the p155).bigred wrote:We made them look like rubbish for three quarters.
Then they came to the party in the last.
Good to get the win.
