After the loss in Rd 5 and all of Hird's "woe is me" garbage last week- and, let's be honest, every other week before that- I want to THRASH THEM. Would love to be the team that gets Hirdy sacked...(though I doubt they'll actually have the balls to sack him).
Yes.

Hopefully we can get under their skin and needle them a bit.

Stick it to them.

Put on a clinic for them.

And give them a good dose of (perfectly legal) Saints Footy 8-)

But that would mean that every week for the rest of the year you will be wanting us to lose unless of course we cant go up or down late in the season. Im unsure losing the last 11 games helps us anywhere but draft time. Im also unsure it makes players from other clubs excited about joining us even if offered big money.
It also mentally hinders our boys development ala the Dees
Does it? Hodge & franklin seem to be okay after losing most of their early games.
Hodge played in more wins than losses in his first two seasons.
Franklin played finals in his third year.
Franklin only played in 6 wins from his first 26 games.
Hodges 3rd & 4th years were worse than our current one.
Riewoldt has a pretty ordinary start.
I think billings will recover from last years spoon, Bruce seems okay.

Voted Yes, definitely. Hope Saints win as many of the remaining games as they can.
Only needed to see the reactions of the coaches and players to the victories - esp Rnd 11 v Melb and Rnd 6 v WB media darlings.....

Wins now - DP's later

I just want to see a flag in my lifetime... Beating Essendon this week who are a pretty rubbish side would make me happy for about 2 hours.

9th is for suckers.

Why do we finish 9th if we win this week. If we win every game we make finals and if we win every game we are close to favourites we probably finish 14th. Losing this week wont make me happy maybe ever or probably at least 3 years at the earliest.

Talk about generations with short attention spans and the need for instant gratification. I would be more that happy for at least a week.

Fair enough on Buddy.
But Hawthorn only had two bad years which were similar to our 13 / 14 although they didn't get the same level of beatings we had last year.
The two years before that and the year after they were 9th, 10th and 11th. Which I'm told is where you want to avoid.

If we only win one more game for the year, please footy gods, let it be this one.

+ 1.
I have no interest in finishing mid-table for years on end like Norf and the Tiges. No interest at all.

Seriously?

Most of your posts, particularly when going after someone are just a complete mess, stop embarrassing yourself it's getting ridiculous.

I am saying that I can forgo a win this week for the sake of a better team in 3 years time and you are accusing me of wanting instant gratification?

You're completely off the mark once again.

I realise that you probably need to be ninth at some stage on your way up, but we are not in contention right now and we still need a heap of talent brought in, so finishing ninth over fourteenth doesn't really help us right now IMO.

While it would be hard to hate Essendon more than me and I will love seeing us beat them if that happens, but really… it's a bit like teasing a mentally impaired kid like saynta as the Bombers are clearly not all there at the moment.

Of course I want us to win. (a) Will achieve my goal of 5 wins for the season, but happy to be wrong on the positive side of the ledger. (b) Another nail in the Hird coffin.

I'm 100% in the camp to beat Essendon, however, the question isn't clear on what year this serves us best to do this so Ill reserve judgment and stick with....Win this week? Meh...... not the most important outcome

I must have missed who we are playing this week. I thought we were playing a side with a 900 page thread on the hatred of the club. Then I read about some people worrying about what may or may not happen in 3 years time or people not caring if we win.

Anyway I don't care who we play every week but I do want to win every week.

Are you like this in real life? Even your mother must have struggled to love you, but it's likely you were dropped as a baby, so maybe some sympathy should be granted.

Win this week.

We lost last week and probably don't have that many chances left.

Also, Carlton and Melbourne are on the improve and might even overtake us.
