Tanking
Is Richo trying to tank ? He continues to play undersize defenders. What about playing Goddard a six foot five defender in really good form in the VFL.
Perfect oportunity on another young forward Hogan who kicked 5 goals. But on saying the tank word thank god the players did not buy in.
Thoughts ?

Re: Tanking
Didn't we get Delaney to play on the monsters? He certainly didn't like he was trying to tank when Joey kicked the last goal.

Re: Tanking
Did you see Coach's response to Joey's goal - reminded me of the good old days of Stan Alves -and, possibly, Allan Killigrew.

Any Saints fan annoyed that we won today may as well just give up with footy.Bunk_Moreland wrote:You annoyed after that win?barwonsaint wrote:Just annoyed to see Dempster playing on 2nd tallest forward and Lee and Goddard notgetting a game
yup OK
IMO Richo rested a few players this week (ie the late outs Roberton and Billings) to give them 2 consecutive weeks off.
Player management of a young group is ongoing and has NOTHING to do with tanking.

Re: Tanking
If you would cast you mind back to the start of the season, Richo said he was not planning on playing either HG or Paddy. Apparently they are not ready for the senior footy. A tad conservative perhaps, but I am going to take his word for it. The man knows what he is doing.barwonsaint wrote:Is Richo trying to tank ? We'll get Fisher back next week, which should strengthen our backline.
From what I can see, there is no tanking going on. We're playing to win.

Lyon was also one for not playing players before he believes they are ready.Sainternist wrote:

.
The selectors this year have already given opportunaties to man, many on out list.
But yes I too am very keen to see how Lee and Goddard will go in the seniors. Particularly Lee who really seems to have re-invented himself tis season.

I think the idea is to ease the likes of Goddard and McCartin into the system.saintsRrising wrote:Lyon was also one for not playing players before he believes they are ready.Sainternist wrote:

Lee has had no choice but to reinvent himself. His career is on the line. Showing good form in the VFL is still a far cry from being a consistent player at AFL level. If he is to be promoted, who does he come in for? I'm thinking Shenton.
