Timid is such an awful thing to say about a player

No timid players. Only supporters.elizabethr wrote:He is either injured or timid.

Dunstan ceratainly is not timid. Pretty insulting to label any player that, and moreso for somewone who goes in as hard as Dunstan.elizabethr wrote:He is either injured or timid.

Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
His efforts and inside work have been up to his usual good standard but obviously lacks speed and looks slow when we don't have the footy (like Seb Ross and a few others). Noticed this year that Dunstan rushes and seems to have a few mental lapses in games which impact his disposal efficiency. e.g. tries to kick off 1 step when he has a bit more time or like last week when he kicked the ball into the oppositions goal post
He has confidence so I don't think playing at Sandy and getting 30 touches is the answer. I don't necessarily think he needs a stint in the magoos. Like all our youngsters I think resting for 1 week will freshen him up (managing the player is what they call it thesedays)

Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
now Spencer was built up by some on here and at this stage is not ready or possibly wont make it so don't try to rush some of these other young guys through they will go through ups and downs as they get game time into them and maybe our guys are playing on guys who have had more than 5 + years of playing in the AFL .

Well summed up Scollop. I think he's still contributing well. If Schneider stays in the team then Dunny certainly does. I thought he might cop some second year blues. I don't think he gets the free rein he did in the first year. From reports he's been sore and probably carrying some niggly injuries. Like Lenny he's not the fastest so you will notice when he slowed down by niggles that you mightn't with others. He'll learn how to work through that. He plays in the hottest part of the kitchen and gets battered around a lot. As he builds up endurance he'll get around the better and have more composure with the footy. I think keep playing Dunny. He 'keeps plowing in relentlessly even when its not going his way which is a good sign.

Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
Something very wrong with Dunstan. Dodged a few contests. Had the length of him arm strapped up. He's not right.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"
Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
What a stupid thread. There is nothing wrong with Dunstan. He is just a 20 year old kid developing. He will have the odd bad game. If he kicked straight at goal today, his stats would look a lot better. The people that post this sort of junk obviously didn't see Ablett's first 3 seasons. Get a friggin grip. He is a gem.
Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
I think he is awesome but even if he had converted the stats show, for an inside mid, he had an ordinary game. Richo mentioned him when talking about the need for 2nd tier players to lift.Ned Stark wrote:What a stupid thread. There is nothing wrong with Dunstan. He is just a 20 year old kid developing. He has definitely been down in form recently from the high standard he had set and that we have come to love him for.
Question is: Is he 100% right? Problem is: There is no-one at Sandy who plays the same role really knocking down the door. I don't think there is an obvious like-for-like switch (happy to be corrected).
After everything he has done since being drafted he is entitled to a dip in form. I am not going to pot the guy, I just want he back to his best asap bc at the moment he doesn't look like he is enjoying his footy.

Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
There are plenty of replacements - Acres, Curren and Minchington all in reasonable form. Dunstan is just another AR favourite.

Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
Wth?
Templeton did some good things.
I thought today was good the boys did well.
Our goal kicking was off and they got over us a few times so what? They fought on and 46 points was unfair.
Sinclair was also ok wth??
I suppose mckenzie was terrible bexause he gave a goal away? The fame plan is sound the boys are learning and doing the right things. Ffs lets support them. Shenton again did some good things but got done trying too hard sometimes ... Trying too hard?? Nobing wrong with that better than melbournes or xarltons effort.

Acres doesn't play inside mid role. Maybe Curren or Minchy.bigcarl wrote:Yes, worth a thoughtsaintsRrising wrote:Might be time to rotate Acres with Dunstan.

Maybe we need some outside class instead,. Also, just because he doesn't play that role doesn't mean that he can't.stjay wrote:Acres doesn't play inside mid role. Maybe Curren or Minchy.bigcarl wrote:Yes, worth a thoughtsaintsRrising wrote:Might be time to rotate Acres with Dunstan.

Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
It is not a matter of no supporting them...but rather more that we have players outside if the 22 who also need games in the seniors.SMS wrote:Wth?

Only way to do that is if the 22 changes. So if form drops a little it isquite reasonable to splell someone to give another player a turn at the seniors.
If we do not blood players from outside of the 22 we are hardly going to build much depth. Just relying on injuries to provide opportunities will not provide enough opportunities.
Mind you fit players may cause Sinclair to become a rookie again soon till round 12.

Re: What's wrong with Dunstan
Not saying can't, he may develop that side of his game but if we are talking about a replacement for Dunstan right now Acres is not the obvious choice.bigcarl wrote:Maybe we need some outside class instead,. Would like to see him get more game time though & soon. Clever user of the ball.
Would not be surprised if he cracks it next week based on current form.
