Rory Sloane
Could Rory Sloane be the Saints next captain? According to Brett Anderson that is a very real prospect. Also Crackers Keenan is on record as stating that St Kilda has a big name player from non Victorian club in it's sights under the free agency rules.
Then we have our very own matrix who has hinted several times that Rory is heading east .

Re: Rory Sloane
Don't know who Brett Anderson is, but I have certainly heard Sloane's name linked to us somewhere. It would have to be a possibility but then we are recognised as a club with our TPP currently strucutured to target FA's and have openly stated that is our strategy! I think I have also heard us linked to Dangerfield, Shiel, Treloar and at least one other whose name escapes me. You would have to think that at least one of the rumours will end up being true.saynta wrote:Could Rory Sloane be the Saints next captain? According to Brett Anderson that is a very real prospect. Re: Rory Sloane
Any of those would do, but I would prefer we go for a free agent so we can use our first round pick getting another potential gun mid. The GWS boys would all cost a first rounder you'd think.True Believer wrote:Sloane, Dangerfield, Shiel, Treloar ...

Re: Rory Sloane
Yep, would be crazy to lose a first round pick for a contracted player when quality (e.g. Sloane etc) may be available as free agents.dragit wrote:Any of those would do, but I would prefer we go for a free agent so we can use our first round pick getting another potential gun mid. Re: Rory Sloane
Is he a free agent? His name isn't on the list.
So he could walk via PSD. If we finished last.
No point trading our first pick (1-4) for him??

Re: Rory Sloane
You're right, he's not a free agent but is currently uncontracted.falka wrote:Is he a free agent? His name isn't on the list.

So we'd have to finish last, and the club would have to be willing to burn Adelaide and used the PSD, and Sloane would have to agree to this.

Why isn't he a FA if he is uncontracted? I thought it was after 7 years? Anyway the only way we will get him if he isn't a FA is trade. People need to forget the PSD. There has been many good uncontracted players available in the last 10 years but none have gone in the PSD. Not even sure if the threatening thing even works. Cant think of many examples where a player came to a club under much less value than he really was. Surely he is a FA though. One last question. Is 26 to old for us next season? It is close to being to old.

Re: Rory Sloane
His current coach is a nut case. Mark my words. A fruit loop.

26 would be on the edge of too old, unless he's going to do a Fletcher.plugger66 wrote:HitTheBoundary wrote:You're right, he's not a free agent but is currently uncontracted.falka wrote:Is he a free agent? His name isn't on the list.

But he is only 11 days older than Jack Steven, and we signed him long term.
No idea why he's not FA, but in the AFL website he's not listed.
Re: Rory Sloane
Do we have a FA expert on here? You have a point about the age and Jack. Be nice if we had another year of development.HitTheBoundary wrote:26 would be on the edge of too old, unless he's going to do a Fletcher.plugger66 wrote:HitTheBoundary wrote:You're right, he's not a free agent but is currently uncontracted.falka wrote:Is he a free agent? Re: Rory Sloane
Brett Anderson Tweet from a minute ago. For what it's worth. I'll assume he's coming.
Rory Sloane still yet to re-sign at the Crows. St Kilda are said to be the frontrunners for his services should be decide to head home. #AFL

Re: Rory Sloane
Looks like next year.... But if the crows lose Dangerfield they'll have heaps of cash for Sloane.
http://m.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-26/the ... ree-agents
The Crows are also going to have to find enough salary cap room to keep other prospective free agents such as Richard Douglas satisfied, along with star midfielder Rory Sloane, who comes out of contract in 2015 but is one year shy of qualifying for free agency.

Just looked up the exact same thing. I suppose the question is do you give a pick 1-3 for a 25 year old. My answer is no.

Re: Rory Sloane
Sloane was a Saints supporter as a kid................. however cupid may put a stop to him returning.
Am I correct Matrix in hearing that he found love in SA and his partner is a local girl? That often puts a stop to them returning back to Victoria. And didn't his parents relocate to live in SA after he was recruited? Maybe they have returned to Vic and the prodigal son wants to follow them................. here's hoping eh?

So Walker will have been Captain (and a seemingly good one at that), for 1 season? Odd move.dragit wrote:Sloane will be the Adelaide captain next year after Dangerfield leaves for Hawthorn or Collingwood.

I think people have been saying that for over a year, so this might not qualify as "first"MC Gusto wrote:Dangerfield is a lock for Geelong - you heard it first

Re: Rory Sloane
To be fair, I don't think that anyone else so far has suggested he's going to Geelong to play Rugby Uniondragit wrote:I think people have been saying that for over a year, so this might not qualify as "first"MC Gusto wrote:Dangerfield is a lock for Geelong - you heard it first
Re: Rory Sloane
Actually I am pretty confident he will not be at Geelong. 99% sure actually. More likely to remain at Adelaide than go to Kardinia.MC Gusto wrote:Dangerfield is a lock for Geelong - you heard it first
