Longer is catching up to Hickley atm he was imense today around the ground and in the contest ruck&clearance.
Joey hot and cold.
Webster looking forward to seeing him back
Ray several good seasons maybe left
Gilbert same issue
Weller need him outt there today
Roo was great in GC game caused headaches forward and was unreal up the ground.
so for me Roo Webster weller and joey

Ross is easily in our best 22 going on the pre season.
Heck he could be top 10.

I don't forget his turnovers.cwrcyn wrote:In think many people forget what a great player Gilbert is.
And 'great' would be a serious exaggeration.
Has he ever been in an AFL top 50 list ever? If not how can you call him 'great'?
Some of the exaggeration around players is ridiculous.
It stems from Ch 7 calling every second player a 'superstar'.
Then average players become 'champions' and 'great'.

Con, I think this generation has more 'champions' than ever before. Every club seems to have a handful of them.Con Gorozidis wrote:I don't forget his turnovers.cwrcyn wrote:In think many people forget what a great player Gilbert is.

On Gilbert, I wouldn't say he's a star but I think is an important player for us. One the few we've got who can break the lines. Gives good run out of defence. I know his kicking can be dubious but I thought we looked better in the few games he played last year.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

Re: So who's missing from our best line-up?
He did finish 3rd in our B&F in 2010 when we were one point away from a premiership. I'd say that would put him comfortably in the top 50 players of the year. He was a genuinely awesome player in 2009 and 2010, though was never the same after the Kim Duthie scandal and the injuries that followed. I personally think we should have traded him at the end of 2011 when he still had massive currency and clearly had issues with Roo and other players. He's prone to turnovers but he's easily in our best 18. Unfortunately about 15 players on our senior list are prone to turnovers.Con Gorozidis wrote:I don't forget his turnovers.cwrcyn wrote:In think many people forget what a great player Gilbert is.

if by 'best line-up' you mean best right now ...
Schneider is miles ahead of Membrey on a HFF. (I've got high hopes for Membrey though -- he looks the part)
Geary is miles ahead of Sinclair. (Sinclair will be a miles better player than Geary I predict)
Ray is probably still ahead of Wright. (not for long I imagine)

Re: So who's missing from our best line-up?
No I wont 'realise' anything.cwrcyn wrote:Wait until Gilbert returns. You'll realise how important he is
This is a fantasy. I like his height and and side-step but he murders us with turnovers.
You will realise this when he returns.
Last year he played 6 games. All average or poor. 0 good.
2013 - 9 games - 2 good - 3 average -4 poor. Summed up in Rd 2 against the Tiges. Afl player ratings notes: ' A mixedbag as he won the ball but often torched it. '
2012 - 22 games 5 poor - 17 average - 0 good.
http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Rati ... am-GILBERT
Since records began in 2012 - he has NEVER received an 8 or above for a game.
So yeah 'great' would be a serious stretch.
To think Sam Gilbert is our saviour is the height of delusion.
2 ok-goodish (0 excellent) games in 3 years doesn't make a player 'important'.

Re: So who's missing from our best line-up?
Based on pre-season 2015 - Ross is easily in our best 22 (which isnt hard - Saad is in it).St DAC wrote:And yet you think Ross is easily in our best 22Con Gorozidis wrote:To think Sam Gilbert is our saviour is the height of delusion.

What are you basing Gilbert on?
2 good games in 3 years.
What do you base things on? 2010? 2009?
But Ross aint a saviour and I aint the one calling average players 'great'.

Re: So who's missing from our best line-up?
Con, of course you're entitled to your opinion. But IMO Ross won't make it for the reasons I've mentioned, and Gilbert, although no savior,is at least AFL quality. And I think he has had more good games than 2 in the past few seasons.
BTW I agree that Saad is a liability, and we should be having a decent look at Minchington instead.

He is a clearance player. How slow is Watson. He took 4 years before he hit his straps. Ross will be a very good player.St DAC wrote:Treacle slow, one-sided, poor kick. Just what we need ...saynta wrote:Ross would easily be in our best 22, imho

Re: So who's missing from our best line-up?
He shows a bit of potential, but Ross would not make the midfield of at least 16 other teams based on performances to date.
