Re: Passengers
Disagree on Longer. He was playing on one of the best ruckmen in the comp. He contested all day.

Saad did the job on Shaw. Longer was pretty good.saintkev wrote:Longer, Saad, Shenton, Templeton

Re: Passengers
Longer was OK but Hickey should be better. Shenton was fine, he was doing a defensive job (I assume). Saad and Templeton definitely.

It was strange not picking Hickey. I think he may have kicked 3 goals in this match last year.

And clunked some marks. Which was something we've been critical of in the past. Good effort I thought.borderbarry wrote:Disagree on Longer. He was playing on one of the best ruckmen in the comp. He contested all day.

Re: Passengers
Saad just had one of those days and could't get his hands on it. Thought ADT did a job on him.
Longer wasn't terrible but Hickey should be alot better.

Shaw is a decent player but I didn't realise it was 2010.CURLY wrote:Saad did the job on Shaw. Longer was pretty good.saintkev wrote:Longer, Saad, Shenton, Templeton
You need to contribute more in attack. Just slightly slowing down Heath Shaw is not an honest days work.

Re: Passengers
The only passenger element of that game, was they were all riding with roo on his emotional journey.
Emotion was palpable, they wanted to do it for him so bad.
No kicking any of them I reckon

Re: Passengers
1st game of the year , against a team that is on the way up while we are down and clearly have players who need game time and with a lack of poise and skill...this will come but on the upside was that they dug deep and had a go all day..i think we tackled much better but this means we were chasing rather than being the play makers...not the time for major changes but tweeting to make sure all the young guys get about the same game time....and for god sake don't blame players coaches for they are all going to make mistakes..its going to be a long year with minuses and pluses occurring each week as we find our next stars.

Re: Passengers
Shenton had a horror patch between mid 1st quarter and mid 2nd quarter. Longer battled hard against an absolute monster, and for the first time took marks around the ground, so i thought he showed some good signs. Saad had a shocker. Templeton tried hard, but found himself in a lot of bad positions.

Re: Passengers
I thought Shenton was good and Longer probably one of his better games. Eli and Saad were a bit disappointing but we didn't really give them a lot. I thought Lonie showed enough to suggest he will be a very good player. Dunstan was a bit disappointing too.

Re: Passengers
Disagree, he's playing a harder role now Gwilt has gone. He did a lot of good stuff but people are choosing to make him a scapegoat. Saad and Templeton didn't get enough ball. Eli probably the one most disappointing but Dunstan and Newnes I was probably hoping for more from.mr six o'clock wrote:Shenton must have met Delilah !

Re: Passengers
If there is such a thing as a whipping boy then there must such thing as the opposite - the protected species.
For someone who hasnt touched the ball since 2012 - Saad gets cut a lot of slack and gets a lot of excuses from fans.
Today it was that he was tagging Heath Shaw. When you have not gone near the ball in three years I think questions need to be asked.
Out of interest, barring Markworth style injuries, what is a fair time to be on AFL list without touching the ball?

I didn't see anyone protecting his performance, it's just I don't see anything worthwhile about ripping into a player after a poor game. If they don't play to the team instruction then they get dropped. It's actually pretty democratic. The need for people to angrily show hatred towards someone like Shenton for playing footy is more a psychological deficiency in the poster IMO. He's a guy with 15 games and played all his footy forward. He does 17 good things and two bad and people go nuts lining up for a kick. s*** people in my book. If he was my brother or son I would punch a few posters if I ever met them.
