If Cats knew they were going to get HG with the pick they used on Stanley do you think they would have blinked?
Go Ryhs but he seems a bit superfluous to their needs.

Re: How's Rhys Stanley going?
I was against trading Rhys but now we have Goddard I have no doubt we won in his one.
Re: How's Rhys Stanley going?
I could be wrong but I think SP wasn't questioning Rhys' courage but rather saying he needed to be more aggressive on the field which I 100% agree with. Has a fantastic mix of size and speed but seemed to "float" around the field a lot. If Rhys attacked it like Kosi did I think his game would be lethal. Rhys seems like a good bloke so I hope he does well at Geelong but I hope Hugh Goddard does better at the Saints.Bunk_Moreland wrote:Pathetic thing to say. Yep. Perfect supporter reaction when one leaves.
many had that reaction when he was at the Saints

Exactly. But it's better to go in on the attack the poster as first point of call.RW&B wrote:I could be wrong but I think SP wasn't questioning Rhys' courage but rather saying he needed to be more aggressive on the field which I 100% agree with. Well instead of saying grow some balls why not say what you actually mean. It isn't that hard.

Re: How's Rhys Stanley going?
I think Geelong's recruiting points to the next phase of their evolution. Blicavs and Stanley will form the next band of running players, who at two metres and with outstanding athletic abilities will be very hard to match up on. Simpson and McIntosh will take care of the ruck. Rhys and Blicavs will play high half forward/midfield. The cats have stayed near the top because they are usually ahead of the game. Interesting to see how the "land of the Giants" strategy will go.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Because he meant what he said. This poster has got plenty of form questioning the Saints players about courage, skill etc.
Then when called, plays the victim.
True supporter this one
Stanley had the courage to play and compete in AFL football at the highest level, he has been in the system for many years and two clubs thought him valuable enough for one to play him for years and the other to trade pick 21 for him.
For some pissant in the bleachers to attack his courage (and that's exactly what he did) is beyond the pale.
Anyway enough on the nobody try hard called saintspremiers, the call on Geelong re pick 21.
I believe Geelong took a calculated risk trading pick 21 for Rhys. The football world was pretty much of the opinion that the draft was even and there could be a "slider" up to the early 2nd round. Many thought maybe a mid not a KPP.
Who was to know that Carlton would be so stupid to pick up some 21 y.o they could have nabbed at pick 60 when Leverde and Goddard were still up for grabs?
if Essendon hadn't had 5 minutes of lucidity from their drug addled state, we may have picked up both Goddard and Leverde.
So in isolation, yes Geelong would have blinked if offered the choice Stanley or Goddard, however that was never the choice, and they took a risk.
Unless you are BigMart and can predict the future (or predict it with 20/20 hindsight), it was, at the time, a risk worth taking by Geelong, and may still provide dividends.
Goddard has potential, but that's it at the moment. Right at this moment it looks like the Saints may have had the better of the deal, but again we don't know the future.
You are garbage - Enough said
Re: How's Rhys Stanley going?
Apparently Rhys has had some sort of leg problem, could be available to play against Carlton this Sunday.
