Rookie list: who should be elevated for Round 1?
I'd promote Saad.
I'd leave Schneider out as he would likely get a hammy just to join the club if he played now.
Who else is in contention if any?

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Id wait to see if any are going well enough for round one otherwise they wait. We have 3 spots so there is a chance for any of the rookies.

Sinclair would be infront of Saad in my book. Saad just does not get into the play enough.
Also you have Holmes who has shown he is not far off. We have not seen Schneider for a long time now.

Rookies will only be promoted if they are going to play round 1. I'd have thought Lonie and Templeton were ahead of Saad in the race for a small forward position and I'm not sure how many more you need.
As for Holmes, if Hickey's fit , he won't have a spot, with Bruce as second ruck.

Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

Yep, they only get upgraded if they're absolutely required. It's a money saving thing, partly. Saad and Holmes are the most likely. But then again, if Schneider is definitely fit to play (here's hoping), you couldn't go past him. He's a class act, and you could play him as sub every week. A great asset to come onto the ground late in a game. And one thing we definitely lack is class.

At this stage I dont think anyone.
Id like to see Minch and Lonie get games early.
But Saad should be on stand-by cos we know from kids they wont last a season. Lonie will get tired after a few games imho.

Re: Rookie list: who should be elevated for Round 1?
If Templeton plays on the wing and Billings is started in the middle then I think we should look at elevating and playing Saad as that small goal kicking forward. It's really important to aggressively go after a couple of early wins. If we get halfway through without a win, the heat will come on the club and with other teams peaking in the second half of the year, and our young players tiring, it will get harder and harder for us. Saad is a mature player with 29 games and 45 goals which is a good strike rate. And we really need to see what he's got to offer after a year out of the game otherwise we were just rookieng him for charity and to assuage some club guilt. Saad has got ever reason to be focused, driven and determined to make an impact which we need early. And his walk up when kicking on goal gives you time to duck to the dunny.

Just looking at the Minch's last six VFL games of 2014
p.s
Im not saying hes a definite gun or anything. Just saying he only has a year left on his contract so we need make a decision on him so lets give him games and find out.
Now I don't whether the coach has already given up on him. But going on those final 6 games from last year then Minch is probably deserving of an opportunity.19 VFL Another to chime in with three goals. Used ball well. -
20 VFL Did some good things but wasn’t a big influence. -
21 VFL Starred with two classy goals and 30 touches. -
22 VFL Combined well with Holmes in middle. 24 touches and a goal. -
23 VFL 20 possessions and a goal from midfield. Used ball very well. -
QF VFL Continued good late season form with 18 touches, two goals.

Re: Rookie list: who should be elevated for Round 1?
No elevation as we should be playing our listed players ahead of any rookies if we can help it. If we are short on specific players then that's another matter but we don't have a shortage of small forwards on the list so no Saad or Schneids.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

I dont think any of the rookies have shown any more than the senior listed players so far, hence like above give the listed players first chance eg Minchington, Lonie, & Curren.

No rookies will be elevated for round one! Why would they? It costs money and they are rookies for a reason.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Who would be the dozen or so players in our midfield this year?
Steven
Armo
Dunstan
Weller
Billings
Montagna
Templeton
Minchington
