Why does every one forget Jimmy Gwilt? He rarely gets a mention in the press as one of the senior players they have available.

Rubbish. They have no one apart from them. Its only a practice game but we would be very disappointed if we lost. You need to eat that chip.

Because its rubbish. mature some. Most are no good and have been delisted. Why look for excuses before we play them. There isn't any really. I said they have no one apart from Cooney, Chapman and BJ. Well that's what I meant because she named them. And all 3 may not play anyway.

no
only challenging each other each week- no prize.- except who can last the longest without a major injury.

If we couldn't beat this Essendon rabble pre-season, then Richo would need to do a bit of explaining to member and supporters. We were competitive against the Lions which is encouraging, as the feeling up there leading up to the game was that they would trounce us, so we did well.

I don't think Richo will be too worried about the scoreline. His main concerns will be how we perform overall and how well we stick to the game plan.

If we get beaten by a team that is made up of several players from other clubs, then so be it. Once the real stuff starts I'm sure the boys will be ready to go.

Prefer to go into the season in winning form, no matter who the opposition is- I'm sure a lot of losing teams stick their game plan..I know a few teams I played in did..trouble was the game plan wasn't much good!

Essendon will rely heavily on its 1-3 year players to support fill-ins Mitch Brown, Mitch Clisby, Clint Jones, James Magner, Sam Michael, Jared Petrenko and James Polkinghorne.

From that group, Joe Daniher, Jason Ashby, Zach Merrett, Marty Gleeson, Shaun Edwards, Jake Long and Irishman Conor McKenna are all expected to play. The Dons’ first pick in last year’s national draft, Kyle Langford, is also likely.

Jayden Laverde, Orazio Fantasia, Will Hams and Nick Kommer won’t make the trip, while a decision on the availability of elder statesmen Brendon Goddard, Paul Chapman, Adam Cooney, James Gwilt and Jonathan Giles will be made today.

The fact that James Turd's Druggies are sending a half baked team of imports who won't be able to perform as a team is an insult.
Similar to when James Turd's Druggies refused to take a two hour bus trip to Wangaratta and left us missing out on a hit-out.

It's called respect.
The Dopers have shown us no respect then or now.

I don't understand why we are participating in this farce of a game.
If they can't provide a proper team then we should refuse to play them, or just send the Sandy seconds while we have our own intra-club.

It's time we stood up to these bully boys.

Isnt it only about 6 players that are not going to play who could? Obviously those on provisional suspension cant play.

It's a practice match and about getting game time into whoever needs it.
That's it.
If there is no prizemoney who cares.

The point would be that this "side" has stuffed us around the last two pre-season games we have (or were to have) played them in. Maybe we can request for no more pre-season games against that mob.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

But the Saints will not adjust their side by taking into account Essendon's weakened side, though they still pick what coach Alan Richardson said was a "young side".

Nick Riewoldt, who is mourning the death of his sister, will not play, but Richardson said the Saints would not "rest" many players, since their next pre-season game was not until March 19. "Their situation won't influence at all what we do."

It's right for Nick to take the time to mourn - hugely important for himself and family. I wouldn't be putting him in the round 1 team though and perhaps that isn't even in consideration. Slow build up to round 3 or 4 if he is right nothing sooner.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I reckon we all mourn differently. I found it beneficial to get back to routine as quickly as possible.

Well I'm with Saintbrat - looking at their list - regardless of the ring-ins - will still have a decent side on the field

Well, we don't know when he'll be back. That's entirely up to him. I would, however, be most surprised if he says he won't be ready for Round 1.

If we dont win this weekend it is going to be extremely embarrassing - we should slay these guys nothing else will be acceptable. It is not an 'it's only nab cup game" we are up against half an afl side

They will probably have more AFL experience than us, don't set yourself up for a big disappointment.
