I remember Lockett wanting out of the saints, prior to that he was a fav player. Spud for me on the loyalty factor says enough. I'm not sure that Lockett would even give the club the time of the day

Yes, I also felt let down. I also resent that he was public enemy number 1 for the football world when at St.Kilda. Then after he did his dash for cash to the Swines he was elevated to some sort of deity. He was still the greatest goal kicker of all time and ,most likely, the last true full forward we'll ever see play the game.Playon wrote:I remember Lockett wanting out of the saints, prior to that he was a fav player. That said, I have given Spud the nod, because he captained us through some hard times and played his career out with the mighty Saints.

Plugger for me too.
So many fond memories of him absolutely dominating games and giving us all a thrill when he'd get on the end of another bullet pass from Cuz.

And how much more glory is there for a full forward than a full back. I remember spud keeping Ablett in check and how many other full forwards did he beat?Sainternist wrote:Yes, I also felt let down. Not to say Lockett wasn't a great player but if you asked him where he say his ties were laid? I'm not voting for a swans player and thats the impression he gives even today.

Were talking about Tony Lockett pluggerplugger66 wrote:No contest for me. Plugger is the greatest ever.

Surely Fev was a true full-forward?Sainternist wrote:He was still the greatest goal kicker of all time and ,most likely, the last true full forward we'll ever see play the game.
Re: Our favourite Saint - Lockett or Frawley- Vote now
Does anyone remember when Lockett was injured, I think it was for about 4 weeks and Winmar took his place as ff. I know Winmar kicked 9 goals in one game but he also kicked bags in the others. I thought at the time who needs Lockett And that's without Winmar putting it onto Winmars chest. Is there any highlights of these games or does anyone know the stats?

But a complete moron to boot. So he is out of contention.bergholt wrote:Surely Fev was a true full-forward?Sainternist wrote:He was still the greatest goal kicker of all time and ,most likely, the last true full forward we'll ever see play the game.

As opposed to Plugger.

I don't remember the games but it was probably at the end of 1989:Playon wrote:Does anyone remember when Lockett was injured, I think it was for about 4 weeks and Winmar took his place as ff. Kicked 3.3, 8.1, 9.3 and 3.5. Pretty solid return.

Locket the freak, Frawley the workman.
Frawley bled for the Club, Plugger made it bleed. Unbelievable player but the old saying "the Club is bigger than the individual" never meant anything to Pluggs.
Regardless where Danny has been and the roles he has played since he retired he has remained a true Saint. Fantastic he is back in an official role. Who can forget his emotional last game when we flogged the Dogs? A different finish to that of our great player who just unpacked his locker and walked 12 months earlier.
Favourite of best? Spud is my favourite.

I'd have to put on my thinking cap to read that. Winmar's one of my all time favs but trying to track down some of the footage may be impossible.
Memory is one thing but the video would be priceless, I don't remember if we won those games or not and wouldn't mind watching them again

Go to AFL tables. It tells you everything. Greatest site for stats of all time.

Plugger. Not just the Saints greatest ever, but the games greatest ever IMO. Easy choice for me.

Plugger brought people to the game just to see him. They moved from end to end each quarter, just to marvel at his prowess!
I doubt anyone came just to watch Spud.
