I still think it arbitrary and laughable that Ahmed (or any player for that matter) could incur an 18 monthes 'punishment' for a dumb act as some refer to it - compared to a systematic and group hidden act involving multiple syringes mind you.
With a maximum penalty of 2 years sought after by the arseandall crew he still gets 75% of the maximum spanking while the windy hill conspirators play on for the whole time Ahmed missed.
A Circus no doubt!
Absolutely no sense of proportion or natural justice. I simply cannot take arseadda seriously.
Ahmed deserves another go asap to make up for the rubbish he has been dealt. In the time he has been rubbed out he has shown wonderful positivity and is by most accounts a very likeable person.
My heart says i'd love to see him have his 2nd. chance @ Saint Kilda.
It's in the hands of the recruiters of coarse and i'm trusting them to make plenty of good calls this year.

Every Pick A Winner
I believe Ahmed deserved a lot better from arseaada.
St Kilda F.C. have stood behind Ahmed and supported him well as far as I know.
I don't think we owe him more either but I think if he gats a guernsey it wont be because of charity. I think the recruiters will be doing the best they can with every space on the list.
GO SAINTS!

I always liked Ahmed in the side. Great mark, reliable kick, good short term replacement for Milne if Schnieder retires.

Very happy for Saad. Still think having him snag a few creative goals will win us a few more games next year.

A win-win for he and the club..he did something stupid, got caught, paid the penalty, no fuss from the club, Saad or the media, and now probably fit and jumping out of his skin to get on the field and play good footy.

Rookied as a PR stunt?
That's my guess. He is just another GOP

Posters keep referring to saad as a GOP.......he wasn't that good,.......just an op IMHO....

Yes indeed.
Not unhappy at all with Saad being selected.
A good news story in a club that has been building good news stories (Holmes, Futurefest, McCartin/Goddard) etc)
This shows that the club while wanting output from Saad, didn't slam the door in his face and welcomed him back.
Up to him now.
You are garbage - Enough said

45 goals from his first 29 games puts him well above ordinary any way you spin it.stinger wrote:Posters keep referring to saad as a GOP.......he wasn't that good,.......just an op IMHO....
He's certainly got limitations, but he's already shown more than most players that get drafted.
Re: Perhaps a reminder of why we should pick him up again?
His game needed serious work, but from all accounts he has been dedicated in his time away and you would imagine that he spent considerable time not just on fitness/strength but on his actual game as well.dragit wrote:45 goals from his first 29 games puts him well above ordinary any way you spin it.stinger wrote:Posters keep referring to saad as a GOP.......he wasn't that good,.......just an op IMHO....

The only thing that continually frustrated me with him was that he would always make leads and get into good positions on the lead only to drop the mark. He isn't a great mark on the lead which isn't a big deal, he is in the team to crumb the packs, kick opportunistic goals and apply forward pressure. It is a big deal when he doesn't know his limitations and makes leads which he can't complete.
Anyway, let's hope he is back better than ever.

Re: Perhaps a reminder of why we should pick him up again?
Agree FQF
I think he's still very much a project player.
Pretty hard going effectively coming into the side to replace the greatest small forward of all time. Our benchmark for this role is pretty unrealistic.
If Minchington, Templeton or Lonie came in and kicked 28 goals in their first 16 games like Ahmed did, people would be absolutely wetting their pants.
I think he needs to focus on his tackling and forward pressure, the goals will come.
At any rate, he's only a rookie now, so he's up against it to even play at AFL level… he'll need to be killing it in the VFL to be considered.

yep....that's why the 17 other clubs were climbing over each to draft him...firstly in
the main draft.......then the psd and finally with their first picks in the rookie draft....
look...i don't agree..was probably a gop in some games in his first year....was down to a vop...very ordinary player in his second year....why he continually got dropped....
don't think you really know what jack dwyer meant when he first called someone a good ordinary player.....

Good on you Ahmed.
Welcome back.
The SCUM at ASADA crucified you and the AFL was no better.
But the Saints and our supporters have stuck by you.

Welcome back, Ahmed.... I hope your best footy is still to come.
You have paid your dues(and then some).. unlike the red-sashed rabble...
I hope you earn the second chance the club has given you.
