Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
I think we'll do this:
Pick 1 - the best kid overlooked in the national draft
Pick 2 - one of the blokes training with us including possibly Saad
Pick 3 - one of the blokes training with us including possibly Saad
Pick - Schneider
I personally will be surprised if we don't take Taylor and Saad.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
No idea.
But reading who is available, there seems to be some very good options for at least our first pick. I would imagine that this will be a kid.
Depending on who other clubs take we may then swap to a "second-chance" for someone.

We have Schneider. We also have 4 rookie upgrades and Membury. Lets get 3 kids, not players from other clubs. Could get a Milne or a Sweeney but a Gamble type just wastes everyone's time.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
I think Schneids has had his day and I would be looking elsewhere. Saad is only 25yo has senior experience and would be handy I think. Probably then need to look for a backman.

Regardless of your opinion, Schneider WILL be taken as a rookie tomorrow.spert wrote:I think Schneids has had his day and I would be looking elsewhere. Saad is only 25yo has senior experience and would be handy I think. Probably then need to look for a backman.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
No to Saad. He's a one trick pony. Has no left side. The Saints have the small forwards they need.
Posting 20 years of holey crap!
Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
Well, you have your reason for not taking him Stinger and I respect that, but I reckon he's worth a second chance. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.stinger wrote:sorry no...saad is a dud...and he is bad for our image...we don't need constant reminders of his drug cheating...energy drink or no energy drink....leave all the drug cheats out at tulla ffsbigballs wrote:I was totally wrong with the main draft and I probably won't fair much better tipping who we'll take in the Rookie draft, but here it is anyway.
Schneider aside, I'd like to see us take Elliott Le Grice, Adam Marcon and Ahmed Saad.
As for being a drug cheat, I still reckon he was stiff and never should have been pinged in the first place, but that's a topic we've already covered and best left alone.

I agree 100% with your view about going with youth P66, but don't forget Milne came from Essendon.plugger66 wrote:We have Schneider. We also have 4 rookie upgrades and Membury. Gaining McCartin and Goddard makes McKernan less required.

Any further updates from the training track as to how some of those training with us were looking? e.g. McKernan?

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
I don't think we should go in with a plan regarding ages/AFL experience. Just pick the players that are best going to help our cause.
We don't need to pick kids based on age, the last few draft we have picked only kids, so our senior list is full of teenagers.
And we shouldn't just pick experienced players either. Firstly, they're available for a reason. And secondly, at a time when getting games into youngsters is important, would you want Petrenko playing OK in the seniors while watching Eli and Lonie kicking bags at Sandy??
A mix of both will do fine. I like the idea of Jeremy Taylor, a guy who could be anything if he gets his body right. But there are also a few names that were expected to go in last weeks draft and missed out, so I honestly don't think we can lose at this point.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
Comfortable that wouldn't happen for a number of reasons.St Chris wrote:would you want Petrenko playing OK in the seniors while watching Eli and Lonie kicking bags at Sandy??
1. Petrenko would be a rookie listed player. He will only gain a spot on the senior list once we move a player to the LTI list.
2. If Petrenko is playing OK in the seniors he would have earned his spot...Just like Templeton, Weller and Shenton last season.
3. If Eli and Lonie are kicking bags at Sandy and Petrenko is only going "OK" then Eli and Lonie will be rewarded with a game in the ones...Just like Templeton, Weller and Shenton last season.
4. Richo has shown that he is not above dropping players to the reserves...Savage springs to mind from last season.
I trust the club to select right players on Wednesday and to play the right players in 2015 for the betterment of the team.
Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
Not true, we're middle of the pack for number of teens in 2015:St Chris wrote:We don't need to pick kids based on age, the last few draft we have picked only kids, so our senior list is full of teenagers.
4: Adelaide, Sydney
5: Essendon, North Melbourne, Richmond
6: Carlton, Fremantle, Gold Coast, Hawthorn
7: Collingwood, GWS, St Kilda
8: Geelong, Western Bulldogs
9: Melbourne, Port Adelaide
10: West Coast
11: Brisbane
Plenty of clubs with more kids than us. If we want to have a really strong group coming through in four or five years then it's important we load up now.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
There's no saying any of the young hopefuls are going to make it at senior level, I would hope some do, but it's a wait and see. But picking at least a more mature body in Saad is good backup, and at 25yo is in the age group where we have a big talent hole, and he had shown good signs in the past. Anyway I expect Richo knows best.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
Sam Grimley could have been that Fwd/Ruck option - but I think the bigtime Hawker have commited to him as a Rookie.Goddard Magic wrote:Grimley is worth looking at. Couldn't break into the Hawks with their strong ruck lineup.

Yes Bampton was rated in the 20's & 30's for the ND by some of the better BF Phantom Drafts. People saying he's slow, but what he can do is find a lot of the footy, esp inside. Sam Mitchelll, Barlow and many others were rated as 'slow'.....

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
While I am a Schneider fan, I hardly see the point of re-drafting him now.
Would prefer Saad and 3 young guys… all 4 may not work, but maybe the one who does is that extra player we take instead of Schneids.
But we have committed so will follow through.

Yep but he would be just like a top up player at Footscray in the reserves this season. He was just a supplementary player. We need youth. We are picking Schneider so lets not get other rejects. Please.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
Schneider could almost be a part time coach to guys like Lonie, Billings, Templeton
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

I think people will be pleasantly surprised by Lee in time. He can play, don't worry about that. He has good hands and a good footy brain.saintspremiers wrote:We could delist another player (Lee), which is unfortunately unlikely, so maybe it's just 4 rookies.

Re: WHO WILL WE TAKE ON WEDNESDAY?
I agree has lots of talent. Just needs a decent run at it. People should get down to training and see his passion and drive. He will be an asset to the team once he gets it all together.Linton Lodger wrote:I think people will be pleasantly surprised by Lee in time. He can play, don't worry about that.
