New Saints in Draft

Post: # 1510920Post andrewg »

Who is coming to the Saints this year in the draft.

I cant see us not getting Petracca at 1 so I hope we get

Petracca
Jordan De Goey
Liam Duggan
Hugh Goddard
Jack Steele
Kyle Langford

Any two of these guys would be great...more chance of etting Steele and Langford than the others but hopeful that Duggan drops to 21...

sorry mate...but the cheaters will draft hugh with either their 17 or 20 pick...provided he lasts that long...we have no chance unfortunately......hugh did a pre-season with them this year...

Who Do We Take?

Post: # 1510976Post Die Hard 7 »

Now with our picks sitting at 1,21,22, 41 who do we take with these picks?
Pet at 1? Nackers at 21? slider at 22? and possibly someone different at 41 whether it be a ruck/tall/small?(daniel, touk miller?)
Thoughts

Sorry but Jack Steele is a GWS academy player.
They are committed to taking him with pick 24.
They also have pick 4, 6 ,7, 23
They will get Findlayson as an academy player at pick 80.
The rest will be rookie upgrades.

Demetriou the gift that keeps on giving.

I am not sure now who we will take with number one pick, let alone the others. I thought it would be Petracca, but McCartin seems to have made a comeback.

The club has made it quite clear - they will take the best player available.

Pick 1 - best player available
PIck 21 - best player still available
PIck 22 - best player still available
PIck 41 - best player still available

We have total control over pick 1, the remaining picks are dependent on the actions of other clubs.

I'll go early.

Subject to change (probably multiple times) and based on no real knowledge whatsoever.....

Pick 1 - Petracca
Gun, goal kicking midfielder

PIck 21 - Reece McKenzie
Big Lump of a forward

PIck 22 - Tom Lamb
Could be anything

PIck 41 - Caleb Daniel
We need a fan favourite cult figure every year.

Rookie draft, all pace.

If we take McCartin at #1 i'll be massively disappointed. We must get a mid

This will probably bloat out to 10+ pages about who we will draft and then come the day and we will pick some one completely different.

Indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To make it worse it will have been better in that case to have swapped for 4 and 6, as 4 will gain access to McCartin or Wright.

Petracca for me.

It's exactly for that reasoning that I think it's certain CP will become a Sainter.

Persactly, Doc.

1. Can forwards get enough opportunities without a midfield that has quality and depth? Nup.

2. How did our midfield stack up this year? Short.

3. Who was our best midfielder over this year? Lendog.

4. Who just retired? Lendog

5. Does that retirement leave us even shorter? You freakin' bet it does.

6. Why would we draft a forward with No 1? We wont.

Hopefully The Protractor will go someway to addressing the biggest hole in our list, which at the end of the year got one helluva lot bigger.

I could live with that outcome too.

IMHO if he pulls his head in Lambikins could be the equal second best (with Brayshaw) player in this draft. Hell, probably the outright second best.
And then there's the romance element... romance and footy... love it. :D

And gaining another cult figure... cult figures and footy... love it. :D

My only questions would be, what about a key defender, and how is McKenzie's mobility...?

After Petracca we need outside speed (run and carry) elite running players and big key defenders. Perhaps they can pick up a small foward (Saad) at some stage also, hopefully rookie draft.
