Jimmy......really? A choice of 3 and you went there......
Has joined the cheats over Melbourne or GWS.
I assume we get nothing because he was delisted. Right?

Probably nothing. Blues got nothing for Waite.
Disappointed it's them but glad he's playing on.

Re: Official: Gwilt signs with Essendope
Yeah it's an interesting one, I thought he was still officially on our list until his contract finished.....clearly not
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Good luck Jimmy. You'll always be a Saint to me.
And you're no stranger to an undermanned, undersized backline. Which is good, because you could be the whole back line in season 2015.
Always loyal

Re: Official: Gwilt signs with Essendope
It seems like the Bombers are definitely looking at a contingency plan in the event there are player bans.
Jimmy will be for in some horrendous thrashings if thats the case.
Anyway good to luck him. If he plays another 24 AFL games hes done well and will get to 150. Terrific career.

After the bannings Jimmy should find himself vice captain. Goddard, captain.

Yes and maybe Kavanagh & Ambrose in the leadership group. (if Kavanagh is still there)Old Mate wrote:After the bannings Jimmy should find himself vice captain. Goddard, captain.
All the best to Gwilt - just wish he'd chosen GWS Giants, out of those three.

Re: Official: Gwilt signs with Essendope
Before the knee injury he was our best defender after Sam.
Very calm and poised player - never panics.
He was never quick but the edge has gone off his speed now.
That limits his ability to get to contests and requires him to be extra quick in his execution.
That reduced his influence and led to turnovers.
Agree it was time to move him on with our young developing squad.
Feel he could have been a useful influence on GWS or Melbourne.
But I cannot see any logical reason why The Dopers would think him a good fit.
Hopefully he gets a couple of years of good $ from them to finance his retirement and plays lousy footy!

No idea why you would want him to play lousy footy. Hope has a great year.

Re: Official: Gwilt signs with Essendope
maybe with their advanced medical techniques they may get his knee back to pre injury mobility levels!
After all, according to many on here Ball's improvement in 2010 was due to the drugs at Collingwood and nothing to do with a coach that actually had faith in him and remembered to put him back on the ground!

He will be vice captain next year next to comb over in 2015......two ex saints leading the cheats!
Re: Official: Gwilt signs with Essendope
Jimmy was up against it with us, playing undersized key defence in a team that was conceding a lot of inside 50s. His best footy was as an important cog in a solid back 6 supported by a strong team defence. Not sure he'll get that at Essendon but good luck to him, he was a good servant for us.saint-stu wrote:I don't mind losing games, its an accepted part of the rebuild. Re: Official: Gwilt signs with Essendope
Don't understand the guilt bashing from this season finished top 10 in best and fairest shows that the coaches rate him
With our team interesting thar 3 of the top 10 in the best and fairest were all defenders
Best memory of guilty was his first game the preliminary final in adelaids two goals on debut back to back in the third quarter which really set us up for the win
Best of luck guilty an honest good footballer and a sainter always in my mind!

Had a beer with Jimmy and Raph tonight in St. Kilda tonight. Had a great night. Loads of beers with em and told Jimmy that even though I hate the Bombres I would always support him. He asked me if I supported BJ and I said of course - any Sainter who represented us in a Grannie, even Luke Ball, becomes a favourite of mine. Both Raph and Jimmy were fantastic talking to us.
