Gwilt to the Dees

Post: # 1499422Post samuraisaint »

Apparently Jimmy Gwilt is on his way to Melbourne - along with Lumamba it seems like they are trying to replace Frawley with these two. If true Melbourne are really up the creek without a paddle.

I think Gwilty's fantastic left leg is keeping his career alive. Good luck to him. But yes indeed who can fathom Melbourne!

You can build a team around Mitch Clark, Dawes, Byrnes, roden, gillies, cross and now Gwilt & Lamumba...

What a bunch of dicks seriously, Gwilt is exactly what they don't need...

I just cannot beleive this . And is Gwiltys left leg really that flash? Lets not gild the lily.

Its ok when not under pressure. But I can remember dozens of turnovers from it this year.

Is this OP based on substance or just the 'coffee dates' reported?

If Melbourne go down this path they might as well join the VFL. If they want to replace Frawley - they need Jake Carlisle. They should ask for Rivers back. How they let him go I will never know. Wasn't he playing for Casey under Neeld?

I still think he has a bit to offer....a finals team already with a solid foundation of tall backs.

Would he make the side? of a finals side?
I dont think he would. Maybe hed get a game at 8th or 9th kind of sides. Hes very slow.

As a 3rd defender/running half back on mediums he'd go alright I reckon. Up against Jack Roo, Walker, Cameron etc and he gets dominated. I think he still offers value with top clubs if played in the correct position with good players around him.

based on his end to the season. James Frawley is a bit over rated.

Fair compensation for Frawley would be middle of the 1st round. Start of the first round is too much for him.

Fair comp rules should include notice of where the club finish, as well as the standard of player.
In Frawley's case pick 20 (or 21 if the dees get a pp) is more than fair - so second round draft pick.

I absolutely agree with this. Is there any convincing argument as to why the compensation needs to be tied to the ladder position of the team? It almost trivialises the whole system.

That Frawley can be worth pick 3 yet Buddy Franklin was worth pick 19 is utterly laughable.

I have yet to read that the Dee's have been promised pick 3
I have read that Roosy has a media compaign going to put pressure on the AFL to get pick 3 -- IMO

Jesus. I thought Melbourne were rebuilding, but it seems as though they want a retirement village for a team instead.

Good luck to Jimbo.
