Re: Saints win on McEvoy Trade - Afl.com
Can someone let Tony Shaw and Terry Wallace know please. Mention also that we actually got more than Lee for pick 12 in 2012.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Saints win on McEvoy Trade - Afl.com
Based on his public utterings, I am convinced Shaw is illiterate, so no danger of him reading this let alone comprehending the trade more generally. We won this one boys. We need to stick fat to a long term strategy where we will win some and lose some and regularly be criticised by commentators with limited intellect, such as Shaw and Lynch. No short sighted, knee jerk reactions please. This is a 5 year process
Re: Saints win on McEvoy Trade - Afl.com
No, he played the game therefore his opinion is right and everyone else who probably pay more attention to what's going on are wrong.
Also can't it be win/win. They weren't going to use savage or whoever they picked much.

Re: Saints win on McEvoy Trade - Afl.com
That article's still incorrect. The actual trade was:
Saints got 18 + 19 + Savage
Hawks got 24 + 59 + McEvoy
It was just broken into two bits because they couldn't give us 19 until the AFL gave it to them (as compensation for Franklin).

Because we offloaded an overated dinosaur for two premium midfield kids lol . Then throw in Savage for good measure.plugger66 wrote:jonesy wrote:The best trade in the clubs history, if not the comps

I am happy to hear if we've done a better one, I can't think of it?
Bring back the Lockett era
Re: Saints win on McEvoy Trade - Afl.com
Way to early to call. Losing ian Stewart for Billy Barrott probably has that trade covered. You do know gary Ablett senior dont you?jonesy wrote:Because we offloaded an overated dinosaur for two premium midfield kids lol . Craig Devonport for pick 17. Devonport played 1 game for Carlton. We got Barry Hall.jonesy wrote:Because we offloaded an overated dinosaur for two premium midfield kids lol . Then throw in Savage for good measure.plugger66 wrote:jonesy wrote:The best trade in the clubs history, if not the comps

Hall eventually traded for pick 13 which was Dal.

When contemplating the complexities of this trade you also have to remember that it left us needing another ruckman, which meant using a second-round pick to secure Billy Longer.

I reckon Mac will be needing the hawks to lose if he's to force his way back into the side... Can't see too many changes to a side winning through to a prelim & McEvoy isn't playing VFL this week to prove himself.

So we paid a second rounder for a first rounder from two seasons ago.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:When contemplating the complexities of this trade you also have to remember that it left us needing another ruckman, which meant using a second-round pick to secure Billy Longer.
Good trading if just working on the numbers.

What a joke , Billy Barrot was tried as a Forward at the Saints, failed badly and moved on, worst trade in our history.plugger66 wrote:Way to early to call. By the time we got him he was done and dusted, Richmond score a player who won a Brownlow and a Premiership.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

The Hawks couldn't even fit Josh Kennedy and Ben Mc Glynn in then got jack for Buddy and are still unbelievable. Like Ablett in the 80s they seem to just keep finding quality when they lose one.

What impressed me about the Hawks tonight was that even well below their best they still in the end easily beat Geelong.gringo wrote:The Hawks couldn't even fit Josh Kennedy and Ben Mc Glynn in then got jack for Buddy and are still unbelievable. I just hope they trend upwards and smash the Swines in the granny.

The hawks kicking and clean disposal is mind blowing to me.
I feel like im watching a different sport or at least a different league.
The precision is remarkable. Very high standard of impressive footy.

Without wishing to speak for P66, I think he was suggesting that the Stewart/Barrott trade was a better trade (from Richmond's point of view) in the history of "the comp".Wayne42 wrote:What a joke , Billy Barrot was tried as a Forward at the Saints, failed badly and moved on, worst trade in our history.plugger66 wrote:Way to early to call.
