Redrafting CJ?
Anyone heard anything along these lines? Heard a whisper that it might be an option if things fall a certain way with trades and drafting etc. Seems odd to me but source seems solid enough...
The future's so bright I've got to wear shades...

He is not part of the plan for 2018.
Just clogging up a list place that could be used to trial someone else.
He gave his all for the club but now he must go for the club.

Re: Redrafting CJ?
It would very much depend on how deep our recruiters think the Draft Pool is this year. If they think there's no better than CJ at say Rd 5, why not put him back on the list !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Re: Redrafting CJ?
Would rather re-draft Gwilt if we were absolutely desperate.
Surely there are loads of smokey project players that would be worth a shot instead of doing this though? Templeton went to the rookie draft remember.
Sounds like bulltish to me actually, can't imagine Richo publicly saying he won't be offered a contract only to redraft him...

Would rather an American project player like the dude from 'The Recruit' if absolutely necessary.Munga wrote:Here here. Plenty of guns drafted late/rookiedCon Gorozidis wrote:Id much rather take a hail mary late pick on a kid.

At least that dude seemed remotely intelligent.
People do not equate intelligence with football smarts and they are wrong. CJ proves this.
Re: Redrafting CJ?
No Jones...he just has not got the foot skills to be in our best 22. Three new kids (top 20) and probably 2 more next year...no room for the man IMO

Re: Redrafting CJ?
I think this whole idea is a unlikely in the extreme. I seriously doubt it is under consideration. I simply cant believe it would even be considered.
Id double check with your source.
If the club honestly prefers re-drafting CJ over taking a chance and giving an opportunity to a kid when we just finished bottom then the club is completely stuffed for the future.
But I don't believe for a second the club would be even considering re-drafting CJ. His final game looked very final to me.
God help us if we do.

I feel the same way about upgrading Minchington. There should be better players in the third round say. Dont forget he has already had three years in the system. What you see now is Minch after 3 years.

Jimmy Gwilt on the rookie list would make more sense as insurance.

Insurance against what? We have bottomed out. If we were contending then maybe youd keep him on as insurance. Waste of time in our current ladder position (last).
We need to get young talent in. We cant live in in 2009 forever.
Its kind of like driving a bus over a cliff and crashing it. Its too late to insure the old bus now. We just need a new bus.

Re: Redrafting CJ?
I would be very surprised. I ama big CJ fan, but his time is done.
There has to be many players worth a shot as a rookie...from kids that missed out, to guys with a few years under their belt.
We are are not in finals tilt mode at present and so we do not need to have any rookies as back-ups. Our rookies need to all be players that could be part of our future.

Re: Redrafting CJ?
it doesn't make sense. Why would they delist him only to redraft him?
