I doubt very much that St Kilda would be interested in picking up a 30 year old player, particularly one with constant back complaints and what not......as much as I liked Bally, regardless of how and why he left our club, he is too injury prone for my liking.

I would like to ask him if one of the reasons he was upset at GF 2010 was that he knew C' wood cheated so did not deserve the cup.

Agree .
Ball should never be welcome back in any form.

Don't need to sacrifice a spot on our list with someone that was slow and is even slower this year. Good footballer but lets not waste spots on the list. If we were to go down that path go all out for a player that still has 3 or 4 good years left and one that has pace. We need to address weaknesses not add to them. The experience would be great but we also have to be logical.

Firmly in the 'NO" crowd for this one....

He bent us over a barrel by nominating a single club at trade time, leaving us with no bargaining power whatsoever. He was happy to screw us over when it suited him, now some of us think he should be welcomed back with open arms. I dont think so....

Not sure about that but I reckon he'd love to rub Lyon's nose in it in another GF!

My CT is that Ball knew he was going to the filth mid year, before Lyon took action. All the other carry on was just that, carry on.

Quality invididual, and I'd be delighted to have him back at the club. Reckon he left was because he was not a "Lyon" player, our coach at the time put greater value on McWalter, Eddy and Clint Jones. Ross Lyon wanted players who could spread and run back into defense. Malthouse saw the value in Ball as in in-and-under type, a bit like Greg Williams and saw that he could add value to the Collingwood team.

As much as I'd love to have Luke Ball back at StKilda, I feel he is pretty much spent and would struggle to earn a regular game with StKilda.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I have no issue with having him back...

Lyon clearly forced him out... not only was it made clear that he wasn't a wanted player but IMO implications were made that he would not a get a fair go at our club anymore

that being said:
a) I just don't see a need for that type/style of mid - aging slow midfielder with suspect skills
b) the fact is that pushed or not he did quit and it feels a bit off us taking him back now that he has little left in the tank

Luke ball is a traitor.

His miraculous recovery from injuries in 2010 (HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE COLLINGWOOD FLAG suck those keywords up google spiders) was also suspicious beyond words.

I agree with this and brought it up recently.

Maybe Ross knew Luke was leaving and that is why he was dropped.

He looked disinterested half way through 2009.

When Luke tried to explain his exit, he responded by saying: "it's hard to explain".

A very close relation of mine is best mates with the father of one of his best mates. According to this guy who I asked, Luke refused point black to talk about it. He didn't bag us but maybe he had something to hide.

Just my opinion.

Why Luke Ball is still critised on here amazes me, we all know it was RL who ended his career with us as well as costing us a flag by refusing to put Luke back on the ground in the '09 grand final when he'd been one of our if not the best in the first half.

Any player worth his salt would've wanted out after that!!!

Saying that , do we want him back the answer is a resounding NO!

I clearly remember Lyon on Sun footy show after our prelim win saying Ball had a good game & would definitely be in GF team. Pretty good endorsement & support for Luke.

He broke from protocol and actually dicked his existing club for the benefit of the new one. He orchestrated to get us nothing back. Usually players come out and ask that their team gets rewarded for all their development and time put in. Luke draft tampered so Collingwood got him for nothing. He was constantly injured for years which we paid for with out very much output. Like Ross Lyon it isn't the move it's the way he left. Even Goddard is more palatable because he was at least paying lip service to the fact we would get rewarded for him going. I met him at my kids footy club and while he's earnest and well spoken he seemed like a bit of a wanker with a huge ego. I don't get why we were told what a great bloke he was. Cloke came across as a much better guy than Luke, shy an unassuming without obvious tickets on himself.

He'll end up at essendon or north. Why would we trade dal and ben mcevoy and then pick up a guy who is over 30 and can't run? worthless thread.

I would love to see him back. He is a great leader and very good person, can't have enough of those at your club. He was very humble in victory as well after the granny

2020 return as CEO, a lot more likely than playing return.
