I watched it. Very good interview. Loved the way he did not get dragged down to Sam's level when Sam made a joke about Essendon. Talked about loyalty standing for something. I could not love this guy more.

Dal did want to stay so that is different. Ball and Goddard hopefully feel a bit worse for hearing the great man say it.

the show would probably be better if they gave newman the arse .
His tired old jokes and general pomposity make the show boring .

They wouldn't care, they've got their big pay cheque, they are still mates with the former team mates. They're best men at each other's weddings etc
In their minds they will have crapped on the St Kilda Football Club (and supporters) and that doesn't really matter at all.

Travelling an hour to somewhere someone does not really want to go?
In the end, Roo is a fantastic media performer and a spokesperson for the club.

Need him to captain us in 2015 and 2016.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

What a class act our captain is. Humble, intelligent and loyal. A true Saint.

Re: Roo is on the footy show tonight
So true. Fickle supporters. Blithely calling for this player or that player to be delisted, thrown away like garbage, but when a player like bj, or Dal is forced out, they are "crapping all over the STKFC and its members"?plugger66 wrote:ozrulestrace wrote:The Fireman wrote:Wonder what Dal, Ball and BJ would of thought when watching him talk of loyalty and honor ?

Fair dinkum, some need to understand how small minded and irrational they are when it comes to players at the club.

Re: Roo is on the footy show tonight
Saw his interview on Thursday night. Absolute class act. Loved that he knew he isn't going to be around when the club has another shot at the flag but wants to stick around long enough to help us turn things around.
Think I need to get an I love Nick shirt to go along with my I love Lenny one!

Re: Roo is on the footy show tonight
Seems that he is not Peter Perfect. Roo basically accepted that Seaford is their home and training headquarters, but a snigger and smile isn't exactly jumping to the defence of the club.sunsaint wrote:but he didnt jump to seafords defenceasaint wrote:I watched it. We've discussed this before and it's pathetic that professionals would complain about travelling in the comfort of their Mercs and BMW's for a couple of hours a day. People do it every day for much less reward and much less pay and most don't do it in the comfort of their motor car.
We all remember how shattered Roo was when GT was sacked. He didn't jump to the clubs defence when GT was sacked but he reluctantly realised he had no option but to focus on moving forward.
It took him a while to get over the relationships built with his former coaches and I can't recall Rooy jumping to the clubs' defence when the club didn't secure the services of Rosscoe Lying.
Rosscoe Lying had certainly got the best out of his charges and certainly his mentoring and his philosophy was ingrained on the psyche of our players. We lost a few close ones in 2012 and the newby coach had a team who were told by Watters predecessor that they were passed it. Who should they believe - the newby or the man who got them so close?? Were those fateful words early in 2011 ringing in their ears throughout the pre-season of 2012- 'end of an era' ;'end of an era' ; 'end of an era' ;'end of an era'??
The Swans triumphed in 2012 but I reckon there wasn't a team in the top 4 at the end of that year that we couldn't have challenged. A few others would know a lot better than us pleb supporters...but my question is...Did Roo himself take too long into 2012 and did the other players take too long to get over RL? Did Rooy as captain do enough to lead his team mates out of that maze and that fog created by RL and clear their heads so that they could move forward?
