Rd 20- Members/ Lenny Game- Or any round between now and Sep

Post: # 1481693Post saintbrat »

Lenny alluded to and saw some ticker on 360 suggesting the club are aiming at this being lenny recognition game

BUt whichever game you can make of the next 6- Do it,

be it Saturday this week
August 2nd in Qld
August 10th Saints recognition game
August 16th in Sydney- his home state
August 24th his last game at the G - Last Saints game in Vic for the Saints
or Adelaide on the last weekend in August

it's as close to an Interstate tour as you can get for farewells...

I think the date has to be officially called. Like the Freo game was last year.
Then we can plan and orchestrate this so every living Saints fan gets there, cheer like hell every time Lenny goes near the ball and give him the respect and adulation he deserves !

It's a watershed moment for us as a club. Show pride and respect to a warrior and humble legend that shows the rest of the AFL community what we stand for as a club.
We need to make the effort to support THE most loyal one club player.
Show the naysayers we are not down and out. We are proud !
Lenny's efforts over his carrer command this.
DO IT SAINTERS !

I like the idea of having Lenny Day Aug 10. The club could distribute "I Love Lenny" T Shirts to people (kids) in the Fan March. Lenny Masks for everyone. We are also playing for the Barker-Whitten Cup that day and I think its about prostrate cancer awareness. Could it be too many themes/too much going on for 1 game?

No. Can't be too many themes. We need every gimmick possible to get a crowd.

From a purely marketing and financial perspective, the dogs game MUST be Lenny's last. He will understand as he loves the club.

If it's just a tribute game but not Lenny's last it won't have the same impact and drawing power.

Excuse me for my ignorance Eastern but when is the march around Etihad ?
Can this be all on the one day and make a grand statement ?
There can't be enough good news for the Saints imo.
We've had enough bad press. If nothing else it's a great feel of belonging as a member like the freo send off game was last year.
One of the most enjoyable games I've been to even though it was contrived.
Lenny deserves this and more.
We could have a "wake" afterwards where all supporters and past and present players come. Maybe the social club. milney, kosi, blakey could be there.
Players retired Lenny played with early dawes, like Harves etc.
Make it a Saints celebration !
God knows we need one and lennny deserves it.
Spread the love.

To me it has to be the last home game we have so the ground and thereafter social club is electric.
Harves' last home game was memorable.

If that is correct BFUSA we will drive over for the game and then drive back straight after. We will march and cheer for our HERO Lenny. We did it last game for milney, blakey and Kosi :)

SP why do you continue this rubbish. he said he is playing till the end of the year baring injury. How selfish of you suggesting he has to finish early so you are happy to say you have seen his last game. You can get $150 return to Adelaide if you really want to see his last game again baring injury. His whole family are going to Adelaide minus his sister who is having another kid. Dont you think you are being completely selfish to deny them seeing his last game?

Anyone know if the club will announce a game to officially farewell our great man? I'm in Canberra but will definitely attend such a game, just trying to work out whether it's the last home game, Round 20 v Dogs, or round 22 v Tigers at G (last game in Melbourne). Need to make travel arrangements (which I've already done for the Sydney game).

Hopefully club says something soon but appreciate any advice, thanks

Maybe we should make the effort to get to Adelaide. Only problem this can't be planned until the last minute in case he get's injured before hand.
I'm pencilling in a good old fashioned road trip, featuring saturday at Morphetville

I will be there in GC and Sydney...can't wait. Would love to get to Adelaide, but has it been announced when and what day he is playing so I can book some tickets, accomm and flights? It would be awesome if the crowd were wearing I love Lenny t-shirts, think I will go buy one now!

$54 one way at the moment. If he gets injured who cares about $54. The problem is we ont know till about the 10th of August when we play but my moneu would be on 1.10 Sunday. Its $125 on the way home at the moment. If they play sunday at 4.40 which I doubt thay cant get a flight hiome because the last is 8.30.

Sounds like a semi-official comment. More detail please, if you have it. Lots of people are interested, so it would be good if the Club confirmed what is happening.

Lenny mentioned it in his speach yesterday
http://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-07-1 ... hed-career
The Saints will celebrate Hayes’ career with a special tribute game against the Western Bulldogs in round 20, which will be the club’s final home and away game of the season.

and Eastern has posted about it in the Fan March thread.
Tom Grogan‎

The Fan March on Aug 10 will be known as the LENNY APPRECIATION MARCH for this year (Rory contacted me about it earlier today). The train from Frankston will be known as the LENNY EXPRESS. The club is really doing everything it can to make this a real event for Lenny. Please re-post this in any other SAINTS groups that you might belong to !!
