[quote="Bluthy"]I really like the direction we are going having the patience to do a full rebuild with quality kids from the draft. It worked for us before. But the truth is there are so many unknowns. Can we really replace once in generation players like Hayes and Rooey let alone all the brilliant surrounding players that still couldn't win us a premiership? Do we have the proper development environment for our early picks to become elite or will they fizzle out like at Melbourne? Will Richo be a good enough coach (I though Mark Williams was a perfect fit for us) when to me he seems like a master craftsmen rather than a visionary artist. Can the club get enough dollars together to be able to challenge the financial powerhouses of the competition who can spend so much more on assistants, trainers, recruiting, managers, specialists etc. The most important person at our club is probably the President. He needs to be the one that that leads the building of this club's structure to rival Geelong's, Hawthorns, Sydney who have a culture of excellence and being better than other clubs driven purposely all through every aspect of the club that makes them like a production machine pumping out quality tough hard running footy players like sausages.

Good Post Bluthy.
Think out the negative can come a real positive if everyone sticks to the "plan" and from the outside looking in this year all the negative results on field combined with injury list.
The one constant appears that everyone is communicating the one message be it coach , players & administration that they at least have a plan.

As you mention in your post about once in a generation players being replaced they can't , but if the 23rd player is as good as the 3rd player on their list in 2 years think they will 8-)

At the moment we aren't even close to winning. Heck, if we won one quarter in any game we play this season to go would be a good effort.
Yay, Richmond.

No thanks, pass.

We could be bottom or bottom 4 up to and including 2016 and still do a Richmond. Quite possible.

Im not optimistic at all! We havent even bottomed out yet! Take Riewoldt and Montagna out and have a think how we will go next year and beyond.

10 years before getting within a country mile of a GF.

I honestly think we're on the right track, people keep saying its going to get worse, I don't think they've been watching close enough. I really do believe our senior players have let us down a lot this yr, I can't really fault our young players effort they're made of the right stuff..

Other then Roo and Lenny and Perhaps Dempster although his form has been poor but he's trying might just be past it.. It's A: lack of Leadership and B: class.

The cornerstone of a good team is taking shape. Another 2 yrs of trade and Draft we will be showing some strong improvement by 2017, have no doubt that trading Joey is on the cards and it should be, he can still attract a second round pick which could get us a first rounder which is what we want moving forward.

The first 3 in the B&F could be over 30 years of age. Thats worse than last year.

I think if you look at the start of the season the younger players were all over it. Templeton, Dunstan, Billings, Webster etc. As the season has worn on and players started breaking bones, tiring , being dropped put back in, the older blokes have had to pick up the slack. Yep Lenny, Armo & Co are having to come to the rescue but I think in balance it's about were you'd expect it to be. Remember we've played our entire rookie list.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Good point Lloydy. As great as we were, there are lessons to learn from our near misses. Having an outstanding top end is undone by an average bottom six.. No weak links is essential. And defence is important with a tight game plan, but you still need a range of attacking options rather than putting it all in the Rooey basket like we did. But we know we can do it now - we were so damn close. Geelong and Collingwood both used their double grand final losses as a platform to rebuild properly and finish what they got so close at. I don't see any reason we can't IF we rebuild patiently and properly. Can the club keep its nerve during these tough times is the big question. We're not traditionally known for our cool professional approach.
