Sam Durdin
Watched the short video piece on Durdin on the AFL website yesterday and was pretty impressed by this young lad. He seemed to have a good head on his shoulders, and as a KPP looks to have the ability to play foreard or back. Good size, looks pretty athletic with a good set of hands. Anyone have more info or seen him play any games for West Adelaide? Looks like he's a likely 1st round pick, but is he top 3 material? Character profiling is obviously something that our club is taking seriously too in recent years with a 'no dickheads policy' seeming to come through in the kids we have drafted in the last 3 seasons...

Re: Sam Durdin
...I wonder if our club might trade and upgrade our second pick to snag 2 top 10 picks...and get a couple of talls...bit like the Hawks in 2004 getting buddy and roughy in the one hit, although that was in the day of the precious priority picks...oh for those days

Re: Sam Durdin
He would be my choice at No.1. He is the most versatile of the the big guys touted as top 3 or 4 in the draft and is a very gifted player. Very skinny but he can play.

Re: Sam Durdin
Lets see how they all finish the season and test at the camp.
I dont see any reason why Durdin might not be pick 1 at this stage.
Can someone please provide me with an example as to how we might get two top 10 picks?
E.g do people mean say Joey plus 19 for pick 10 ? Or something like that?
I dont see how pick 1 can get us two top picks unless there is a 3 club trade which seems unlikely.

Don't know why Joey's name keeps coming up as a possible trade this year. He signed a three year contract last December so he's not going anywhere anytime soon!!

Re: Sam Durdin
Durdin may well go at No.1, Con. His big advantage over McCartin at this stage appears to be versatility, which is almost a prerequisite. McCartin appears to be a specialist forward, whereas Durdin can play a number of roles. He reminds me of Justin Westhoff. I, for one, would be quite happy to see us pick him. He had a poor game in the last game of the U/18 championship, but that shouldn't discourage anyone from taking him early on.Con Gorozidis wrote:Lets see how they all finish the season and test at the camp.

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

if we finish with the wooden spoon..or 2nd pick can be no earlier than pick 21....not 19Con Gorozidis wrote:Lets see how they all finish the season and test at the camp.

Re: Sam Durdin
Ok pick 21 then.
Same same. So pick 21 plus joey for pick 10?
Is that what people think?

As I said in an earlier post in this thread Con, you obviously must have missed it.......I don't know why Joey's name keeps coming up as a possible trade this year.
He signed a three year contract last December until the end of 2016 so he's not going anywhere anytime soon, so I very much doubt we're going to pay him out to use him as trade bait.

We dont have to pay him out though. Having said that we were more hope of trading him if he didnt have a contract andwas a FA.
Re: Sam Durdin
Get Durdin for the back line and use the Bruce as a forward - solved
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Im not suggesting we do this trade. I am saying a lot of people are suggesting we trade pick 1 for two top 10s.
im just not real sure how this could be done exactly.
im trying to get someone to come up with a feasible example .
maybe say carton swap us pick 1 for their pick 6 then they shift a good player to the eagles and the eagles send us pick 7 . Seems highly unlikely.
I just used the joey example because I cant figure any other way for us to get two top 10s.
Im certainty open to suggestion as I like the idea.
