Are we any chance for a priority pick?

Post: # 1477760Post Life Long Saint »

Seriously?
Our last two seasons have been deplorable and it's only going to get worse.
Surely an extra pick at the end of the first round is warranted.

Not a hope based on the Dees and even under the old rule we would miss out.

The Dees had access to priority picks (Scully and Trengrove) not that long ago...
What's the old rule? Wasn't it something like less than ten wins in two seasons? Well...we're not even going to be close.

No chance. Not yet. We have to be down the bottom for another two years for it to happen. The bright side is, we are that terrible ATM, that it may come sooner rather than later!

Less than 5 for 2 seasons in a row. We maybe a chance next season based on this season.

I am seriously worried that financially the club wont be able to withstand another lengthy down period?

We must be a big chance now/ % of 50. W are miles off the pace.
As predicted by many of us on here despite the false optimism in the first month.

If we get pick 1, 19, 20 (priority) and 25 (Montangna) id be happy with that. That picks in top 25.

We then should pay overs for someone for pick 1 in the psd.

Thats 5 new players.

Then we make Armo Skipper and we go again.

Roo will be skipper and we are no hope of a priorty pick Con. Even under the old rules we wouldnt get one so under these harsh rules we are no hope.

What are the new Rules?
They changed the wording to 'extreme' circumstances or something? It is in the discretion of the AFL isnt it?
50% is fairly extreme imo.

Tassie our only chance to survive...thanks Lyon for your pathetic selfish development/recruitment.

Not only do we have little talent but have now quickly developed a losing/drop off culture. Will take years to turn around

17 losses in a row with a sub 50% and they will have to take a serious look at a priority !!!

Eagles got one in 2010.
Its now at the Commisson's discretion.

With our shocking % we are a serious chance.

That Freo game in R22 last year really was a false sense of security as it was against a 3rd string side who werent trying. Take that out and our last two years have been shocking.

Yeah they did but after the tanking issue, and 17 clubs voting that they didn't receive another, that was it for them.

It comes down to AFL discretion, apparently, and since that rule change we haven't seen a team get a priority selection. IIRC the clubs voted on Port possibly getting one a few years back and of course the other 17 clubs voted unanimously NO. Thanks to the Dees the priority pick is effectively no more.

The rule change was only in 2012 and since then Melb and GWS have been on the bottom and Melb got a pp in 2009 and then got in trouble for tanking and GWS already got a million DPs - so I reackon the Saints area big chance to get one?

Do we deserve one? Not really because we bought this on our self for our s*** recruiting 2007-11.

But nonetheless I reckon we might get on at the start of the 2nd round. No way we wll get pick 1 and 2.
Im thinking we might get pick 19 & 20.

What sort of bulls*** rule is that? Typical of Demetriou's time in the AFL.

Melbourne's been down too long. We'd better buy them a coach. The AFL needs a strong Sydney Swans. We'd better make sure they thrive. etc, etc, etc.

Policy on the run and gross manipulation of what used to be a sporting competition.

I don't like it even if it works in our favour. You'd feel like some sort of a charity case.
