Sydney Freo Grand Final threat
Now wouldn't that be a Saint fan nightmare scenario?
Hard to see it not happening TBH.
Thoughts?

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: Sydney Freo Grand Final threat
Wouldnt worry me. Same as the pies and Essendon. Actually much better as I could actually barrack for a side. They would be the 2 favourites at the moment so a huge chance.
Re: Sydney Freo Grand Final threat
First finals sexiest that I will miss in over a decade as I'll be overseas. It's not St Kilda, so does it really matter as long as it's the two best teams and not Collingwood?

I think a Buddy/Tippet-led Swans premiership would be a fitting testament to Dimwit's reign. Perhaps through his influence he can arrange Barry Hall to play as well

Just so long as Lyon finishes second, don't really care who beats Freo in GF!

Why would you like him to finish second? Hope he wins it or Freo actually.

Thats a bit weird. maybe you didnt have the fun and excitement that I did the week before both the 09 and 10 GF. The best 2 weeks of my footy like and by a fair way. Thought RL helped make that occur just as the players did. I hope we get that feeling again one day.

This would have to be the best, easily.
Can't see how people can begrudge Lyon , when that knucklehead nettlefold just LET him walk away.
During Lyons reign, I had the BEST footy experiences of my life so far.
If there was ANY way of getting back, I would say go for it!

Respect your views but don't share them.
Enjoyed going to GF's but did not enjoy the game-plan that took us there.
Most on here and most of the playing group loved Lyon, I realise I am in the minority.
I would have sacked Lyon immediately after 2009 GF as his misuse of Ball in the GF was the worst coaching blunder in my 48 years of supporting the SAints!

If the board did better by him he may of stayed, but maybe he was always going to leave.
Could you of seen Lyon sticking around for a painfully long rebuild?
I think Lyon wants to be a premiership coach now, not later.

Re: Sydney Freo Grand Final threat
Lyon stuffed up when it mattered most to the St Kilda FC. One point of view is that he got us there. I know he convinced many people that 'if we kicked straight we would have won' in 2009, but I didn't swallow his bs and I'm sure a few others didn't. We actually didn't kick a goal in the last qtr in '09 and that's what cost us.tweedaletomanning wrote: Can't see how people can begrudge Lyon , when that knucklehead nettlefold just LET him walk away.
Game plans aside - Lyon couldn't inspire the Saints team or give them the spark to get us over the line at the final siren in 2009 and in GF1 2010. Some of the great GF winning coaches speeeches have become legendary. Lyon had the cattle and he certainly knew how to get into the minds of his players, but perhaps he didn't have their hearts.
Lyon had at his disposal a team of high draft picks and basically half the team was made up of talented enough players to be called matchwinners - Goddard, Dal Santo, Ball, Hayes, Reiwoldt, Kossi and Gardiner plus - Fisher, Milne, Joey etc and the foundations and blueprint gifted to him by his predesssessors who also created the bonds of loyalty and ethos that eventually led to a powerhouse on field team. Along with a wealth of individual champions there were the gops like Baker, Blake, Gram and Gilbert.
The knucklehead of a coach made crucial selection errors in the lead up to the 2009 finals and in team selection on GF day in both 2009 and 2010. No-one held him to account after 2009 and he had the audacity to blame the players and tell them if they didn't want to work hard enough that they should leave!!
I couldn't give a rats tossbag if he has improved and learnt a trick or two and if he wins a GF for Freo....His job while at the Saints wasn't good enough.

As opposed to geelong and the pies if they played. They only beat us in GF's. Hopefully freo will win it.

I still remember the 71 Grand Final when the Saints and the Hawks were both playing for their second flag, look at how it's panned out since, i think they can be smug.Con Gorozidis wrote:Anyone but Hawthorn for me.

Lyon topped up our list with re-treads and drafting/recruiting during his time was abysmal.SydneySainter wrote:
