minchington pass to roo
was that the best pass by a Saints player since Winmar to Lockett?

Hallelujah. It was a moment of pure joy (and the running goal round the wing wasn't half bad either!)

Re: minchington pass to roo
We need players who can kick like that. Sign him up. Had to look twice to make sure it wasn't a tigers player kicking backwards.

Re: minchington pass to roo
It was an amazing pass but he needs to prove it wasn't a fluke by kicking accurately consistently. But he was damn impressive today.

Several passes like that today.
Must have been some emphasis in not kicking high floating kicks forward. Unfortunately Dempster missed the message!

Re: minchington pass to roo
Mystified why he started on the bench.
Was promising last week.
Should have started on the field.

Lot's of potential there to be developed. He moves so well and very confidently. Played well last week too until he tired. Will get better with each game.

Re: minchington pass to roo
Terrific work from the Dromana kid today.
Very disappointed in Roo today.
Spent most of his time complaining about players not passing to him even when they kicked a goal.
Minch hits him lace out at a critical time in the match when we had momentum and Roo shanks his kick.
Has done that kind of crap too often in his career.

Oh FFS. You go out there and make lead after lead at full pace, double back and do it again, get buffeted of the ball, then lead again and then after you mark it go back and kick straight from 40 metres. The bloke runs himself ragged to give an option week in week out, he bleeds for our club.Con Gorozidis wrote:Terrific work from the Dromana kid today.

At least we both backed him in and didn't write him off. Being a Boy from down on the Peninsula helps!BackFromUSA wrote:Darren sparked us.

Re: minchington pass to roo
Any coaching team with any cojones should be treating Rooey just like any other player out there who needs a spell. Rooeys last few weeks have been ok, but seriously why not rest him like they've done with other players. Maybe he plays one more against Carlton and then they ask him to make way for Rhys at CHF and maybe Hickey returns and maybe give Siposs a few consecutive games at FF.Con Gorozidis wrote:Minch hits him lace out at a critical time in the match when we had momentum and Roo shanks his kick.
Any rational footy follower and any team oriented footy department would see the positives for the team and also the positives for the individual (he wants to play another year doesn't he, so doesn't it makes sense that he is 'managed' like most senior players are these days). We should be experimenting and giving guys opportunities for the betterment of the team. It'll also throw a spanner in the works of the oppositions planning.

How does missing a game help for next season. A lot of myths in footy but this one is one of the better ones. it may help this season but whats the point in helping this season. if he wants to continue to play then he should be allowed. Just dont how a rest in the next couple of weeks has any bearing on round one in 2015.

Re: minchington pass to roo
His speed on ground and his influence on ground and his ability to impact games isn't that of a young fella any more. He is 30+ and he isn't an outside runner playing bruise free footy. If he wasn't a CHF who gets to every contest and didn't get double teamed and bashed each week and if he didn't work as hard as he does then maybe yes...don't ever rest him.
But that's not the reason to rest him THIS YEAR.
The transition to a Saints team without Roo can be made more seamless if Roo wants to help make it happen and if the coaches have the courage to force the great man to sit in the stands in 2014 and again perhaps a couple of times in 2015. If it's all about Roo, then don't ever rest him and just play him each week until he decides it's time.
