Re: VFL Rd 9 Sandringham vs Northern Blues
Webster Armo and Markworth all got some touches.
No stand outs. Apparently Stanley was ok but just ok.
Not even sure if Savage played.

Re: VFL Rd 9 Sandringham vs Northern Blues
Saw the first half. Webster is so much better than quite a few of the guys who played in the seniors today. Gwilt was solid, Stanley very disappointing. When you're being led to the ball by Matthew Watson, you're not trying hard enough. Rhys will probably be in other colours next year. Siposs was reasonable, but blasted at long range goals when he had player inside 50 in space. Wet day, slippery ball, so not much of a spectacle. Armitage was okay and will return next week.
So really, it's only Armitage Roberton Gwilt and Webster as possibilities for next week. Simpkin, Dunell, Jones, Milera, and Ray are in danger.

Re: VFL Rd 9 Sandringham vs Northern Blues
Saw the game yesterday. Webster class above in his decision making, time and space, disposal. Gwilt next best; appeared to relish playing on a smaller opponent. Holmes rucked well but (haven't seen the stats) can only think of a couple of possessions outside hitouts. Stanley played without passion or confidence but still teased with the odd athletic dash or mark - can see why they're reluctant to give up on him. Sipper had a heavily strapped calf and in protracted discussions with medical staff just before half time - hope it was just a precautionary rest in the second half. Couldn't help reflecting that the elite kicking ability he was lauded for a couple of seasons ago appears to have left him. Of those we haven't seen, I was most interested in Markworth. Didn't set the world alight but reads the play well and looks to have some time with the ball.

Re: VFL Rd 9 Sandringham vs Northern Blues
Watched the first three quarters -
Webster is a lot stronger than it seems and it showed yesterday. Stood out especially his kicking. Stanley was poor, just doesn't read the game well enough. Hardly noticed Armitage but may be because of more attention from opposition, not sure. Markworth alright without being outstanding, got a word from the fwd coach about dropping marks at 3QT. Not much of Savage but could have been in close a lot and missed him. Gwilt was a class above at half back. Defensive work, spoils and such and bringing the ball out of the back line. Composed and used it really well. Maister presented really well and some grabs stuck in the wet. Holmes looks good. Siposs missing a bit.

Re: VFL Rd 9 Sandringham vs Northern Blues
If we want to do a pies and get a player in his third year at Sandy Dragons and occassionly playing at Sandy then Taylor Grace could be the man for this seasons draft as Tom Langdon was in last seasons draft. Im sure they are looking at him. Like his style as a footballer.

Agree, also Jimmy Munro has to be seriously considered. Would be leading Zebs B&F this year alongside Cockie. Remarkable to think he's only been playing the game for 18 months!plugger66 wrote:If we want to do a pies and get a player in his third year at Sandy Dragons and occassionly playing at Sandy then Taylor Grace could be the man for this seasons draft as Tom Langdon was in last seasons draft. Re: VFL Rd 9 Sandringham vs Northern Blues
Played hockey for most of his childhood and decided to switch to footy last year. Finished in top 10 of B&F from only 7 games last year after starting as 23rd man as a Dragons player. Ball winner and has been given tagging job this year if opposition player is getting out of control. Loves a contest aswell, a tackling machine. Has great pace and endurance, which comes from his hockey backgroundplugger66 wrote:stkildathunda wrote:Agree, also Jimmy Munro has to be seriously considered. A lot of those stats are incorrect. Eg Markworth had 12 disposals not 19 like they have listed.saintbrat wrote:http://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-06-1 ... wn-round-9

Re: VFL Rd 9 Sandringham vs Northern Blues
He did a few very nice things in the one game I saw. He looked like he had ability but went missing for large chunks. I didn't realise he'd only been playing that long. Worthy project. What's Yilber Zijai or what ever his name is like? He seems to be getting some good numbers.stkildathunda wrote:Played hockey for most of his childhood and decided to switch to footy last year.
