Bring back Milney!
Never have we missed the tip rat more than in the past five weeks. So much effort has gone into getting it inside attacking fifty, only for the ball to get swept away with ease. Roo and even Tommy Lee today have provided targets and a contest, only for us to be out of the contest as soon as the ball hits the ground. Milera and co. really need to put in a greater effort to keep it in and create some chances. It shows how important Eli will be on his return next year. ATM it's his job for the taking. Failing that, redraft Milne!

I was being sarcastic. Just to make a point, although he would be better than anyone we've got out there ATM.Hurricane wrote:He's retired. Move on

Re: Bring back Milney!
I reckon he would still be killing it and we'd be in with a chance tonight with Milney.
Alas, our club's integrity would have come under severe scrutiny and we'd be lambasted weekly by the public if we kept him for another year.

Hey SP they are only charges and he hasn't had his day in court yet so it it is extremely unfair to make the comment you did and really has nothing to do with anything anyway.saintspremiers wrote:With those rape charges no way in hell should he be on list. Re: Bring back Milney!
As I said in the match day thread, depending on how his court case goes, I would recruit him as a specialist small forward coach.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Re: Bring back Milney!
You forgot to factor in the PR side of things and how his name on the team sheet effects our ability to get sponsors. Whilst he isn't guilty of anything from legal standpoint he's hung drawn and quartered from a public perception POV. Which effects our club off field. It has to.Cairnsman wrote:Hey SP they are only charges and he hasn't had his day in court yet so it it is extremely unfair to make the comment you did and really has nothing to do with anything anyway.saintspremiers wrote:With those rape charges no way in hell should he be on list. Re: Bring back Milney!
I'm assuming that the OP is a joke. Remember the G Train making a " comeback "? That was a runaway success wasn't it? People, we need to just take some time to get some perspective on the current situation. Things will improve, nothing more certain than that (IMHO) but we won't be seeing improvement without some degree of pain. Time for strong nerve, and cool heads.

Re: Bring back Milney!
You are right, Jiggster. No comeback for Milney. Still, he would probably be doing a better job than those who've replaced him. It highlights the loss of Eli Templeton. We just don't have an effective crumber.thejiggingsaint wrote:I'm assuming that the OP is a joke. Remember the G Train making a " comeback "? That was a runaway success wasn't it? The good news is that we WILL have Eli back next season! No point in pining for what has passed. Look to the future!

Yep, Eli will be a star next year. He, Dunstan and Billings in the same team will create a terrific youth dynamic.

Re: Bring back Milney!
i think honestly retired one year too late .... 2012 he was finally getting the respect he deserved for being the best dedicated small forward the game has seen ... roll on 2013 then the whole rape case reers its ugly head again , next thing you got Sam Lane jumping on her soap box to say how he shouldnt be allowed to play , the abuse from the haters gets signifigantly worse , the club are pushed into a corner to put him on a hiatus for a couple of weeks , the players are annoyed by this then when he returns the media slam us for bringing him back ... he comes back has some good games and some poor games and walks away from the game with people remembering him for the case not his footy ....ShanghaiSaint wrote:Retired 1 year too early
terribly sad that it had to end like that i wish he has retired in 2012 at the top not like he did but his 2012 form was soo good he wouldnt retire on that
