Nicky Dal recruit of the year
We for Delaney and pick 25? for an all star who is likely to play for at least 2-3 more seasons
Please discuss

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
It was a mutual decision. He fits Norths needs a they needed outside class. Doesn't get tagged either so it's no surprise his numbers are up again this year. Not ideal that we had to trade him but he won't play in a premiership at North so he effectively marking time until he's done! Still a champion of our club!
Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
Both clubs are winning. if dal is still with us we win 3 games so far. Anyway i reckon Dom tyson is clearly the recruit of the year at this stage anyway.

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
watched a lot of Norfs games due to Dal and M Daw.... think to be fair Dal has really added something to their team... a lot of class like with us he steps up at the right time and just like with us he goes missing... i wouldn't call him pick up of the year atm...MC Gusto wrote:We for Delaney and pick 25? for an all star who is likely to play for at least 2-3 more seasons

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
Article clearly states he has been tagged most weeks but has still win his own ball
There was a clear winner in this deal and it wasn't us. Should've pushed north harder

How could we push them harder? Couldnt he have left as a FA? And how does he help us in the future? How many games would we have won with him in the side? I say 3.

still think Delaney has been great for us... can't compare the two but Delaney fills a hole we had and he's going ok imo.MC Gusto wrote:Article clearly states he has been tagged most weeks but has still win his own ball

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
Good to see Dal being a major contributor to North's campaign and enjoying his footy. Hawthorn also getting good use from Mac.
We just have to be patient about those trades paying dividends.

He did leave as a free agent. I'm not sure what the point of the thread is.plugger66 wrote:MC Gusto wrote:Article clearly states he has been tagged most weeks but has still win his own ball

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
Dunstan, Acres, Longer, Delaney & Savage for dal, McEvoy & 25?
Tell me which will be handier in 2-3 years time.
North will lose their first final by 100 points like previously and wonder why they are still so mediocre...
All the best to Dal & North.

We traded for the future with two clubs that were trading for now. Judging the trade this year was always going to put us behind. Wait for a few years and see how everyone has come out of it.

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
A classic example of a Win:Win
Hope NDS does well at North.
Bear him no grudge whatsoever and he will always be welcome back at StKildaland.
But those deals will really help accelerate our list development (apart from Savage as other have noted).
NDS and Macca will certainly help their new clubs short term - Macca may even help deliver a flag.
But we will also win long term.

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
Dal is a great player & I would love him to be still playing for us, but I have no problem with what has eventuated.
Lance Franklin is an okay player too if we are talking about new recruits, probably take him over Dal if they were both up for grabs.

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
I wish nothing but good luck, good health, and good times to Nick Dal Santo. A class young man who gave loyal service to our club. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING to be gained in making hypothetical comparisons about the trade deal. Good luck to both players.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
I miss Dal santo a lot.
But with him, we wouldnt be much better. With "who the hell is delaney" and faceless pick 25 we arent better off at all.
Was a lose lose situation.

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
"Trade of the year" probably would have been a more apt headline.
I've seen enough in Delaney to suggest he could turn into a very reliable defender.
Happy that Dal has found a good home and is playing well too.

Re: Nicky Dal recruit of the year
Dal for Billy and Delaney - pretty sure that we will win that overall. Short term loss for long term benefits
