Re: If we have some balls
If they are so desperate for more goals in the game as they say, they should cut down on the scragging, arm chopping, double teaming and just pure negative tactics on the key forwards. The way defenders just clatter in to forwards would be given as frees if they were mids. Forwards should be allowed to go for the ball cleanly like all players. Forwards taking big marks are what we love about the game and it is fast disappearing.

They seemed to find it ok in the GC forward 50 tonight.Con Gorozidis wrote:Umps have put the whistle away all year in all games.

Re: If we have some balls
Free kicks would be nice, but the other thing that was crystal clear tonight is that when we go forward with pace from the backline, without allowing the other team to set up, Roo can do it without any umpire help.

Re: If we have some balls
I was at the game with a Hawks supporter and he has always said Rooey gets cheap frees but he couldn't understand why they could give GC soft frees on goal while Rooey could be pushed in the back or chopped with out a call.

Re: If we have some balls
It seems you can just blatantly push players in the back and not give a free away if your a GC player that is (see ablett multiple times).
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Re: If we have some balls
Need to invite some umps to training (fly them to Seaford by chopper, it's SUCH a long way from civilisation arrrgghhh)
Have some video ready (in secret), of frees given to some rich clubs' forwards.
Do some re-enactments of those things, with Rooey+Bruce and Delaney
If they call play on, take them to the video room and say-
"then how come Roughead/Tippett/Cloke/Kennedy got paid a free
for EXACTLY the same thing?"
Or go to AFL House with videos of Rooey's "play-ons"
and the other clubs' frees, ask them why the double standards.

Especially Umpire 25. I have noticed him in other games involving Saints and he was bad towards usShanghaiSaint wrote:umps where sh&t house tonight... bloody step back this year.

Re: If we have some balls
After we worked our way back into it in the first quarter they gifted them two goals in the last minute.
First Delaney took a clean mark. It started as a spoil but wasn't touched by the forward. Then he is tackled and it spills to Matera for a goal.
30 seconds later Webster and Matera are chasing the same ball and crash into each other. Free to Matera who kicks the goal.
As mentioned above, they were given license to push our players in the back at any time and also when tackled they were allowed to just drop the ball and punch it after it hit the ground.

Re: If we have some balls
Interesting observation noddy. A bloke who sits in front of me says maggot 25 was the prick who nailed us at the start of last year vs. Richmond, and supposedly has been borderline corrupt in other games also.noddy04 wrote:Especially Umpire 25. If this all holds true, our club should issue a formal complaint to the blind department re 25.

Re: If we have some balls
Umps were rubbish last night re: Delaney but what about the useless commentators (Healy especially) didn't acknowledge the mark once and then spend 30 seconds bagging him saying he shouldn't let it spill in forward line.

Re: If we have some balls
On current form, if we had some balls we'd just turn them straight back over to the opposition !!.............

many times they just pushed us over. 2 players running for the ball and they just pushed us over. look after the suns, they are the afl's investment propertyJacks Back wrote:It seems you can just blatantly push players in the back and not give a free away if your a GC player that is (see ablett multiple times).
