Re: Team v Gold Coast
GC have hardly any injuries .
I guess the thing about injuries is it is also related to your list profile.
Older guys and younger guys are more likely to be injured and we have plenty of both.
That core group of hardened players in their mid-late 20s/100-200 games group (like say Farren Ray) are less likely to be injured - and we have very few guys in that category.

A lot of injuries just flat out unlucky...
And god that's a bad post about GT... Very inaccurate .... He left player conditioning to Craig Starcevich ... He had zero to do with player conditioning...
Accurate post on Thomas. He was the coach at the time, he appointed Starcevich, he ran the show, he stuffed up.
Thats my opinion and I am entitled to it. Dont know why you think I am not.

There's been much speculation about the reasons why but it shouldn't be a problem soon. Don't worry, I'm rarely around these days, so you won't have to suffer many of my difficult paragraphs.

I am a huge Webster fan - but agree he is luck to keep his spot.dragit wrote:I would prefer to have Saunders in the side to Jones, also like to see Dunell playing. Reckon Webster is lucky to keep his spot this week.
I feel like we really miss Armo and Nate Wright.
Nate Wright is really the only bloke who regularly runs players down from behind.

Because quotes are for obvious dumb arses
Let me ask you this,
You were the only person who mentioned GT... So really it wasn't that hard to work it out... Was it?
Endless boxes, of repeated comments... I can just scroll down to follow a conversation... I don't need it repeated numerously
Obviously some do?
Another question, if I may
Why was Starcevich a mistake?... His previous 4 years of employment were at Brisbane, where they had just come off 4 grand finals... 3 premierships
Also GT did not employ him... Although he did want him... The club employed him.

Why are you so rude? I have been invited on here in good faith and you abuse me.
Another question. Was Thomas the head coach? if so he is responsible for the preparation and performance of the team.
Please try to be civil and courteous in your reply if possible.

happy Gwilt is out too. cooked. needs to reinvent himself. only 27 so it's possible but...
don't understand Richo's press conference talking about Shenton possibly playing tall, if it's an issue give Simpkin another go, he's no giant but can handle bigger opponents than Shenton
and Reiwoldt should have been subbed off last week. got some concerns with throwing players out there. Armo should never have run back on. surely a cut is a cut and you can see it and know it's bad.
some concerns.
hope Milera makes the most of this.

The first 'rude' comment was...
"No wonder this place has gone backwards, when people like you...."
What you claimed about GT was not entirely accurate, and I pointed that out... Not rudeness, argumentative... Forums are for discussion and debate... Don't like being questioned, well I can assure you, being challenged in the norm on SS
Invited here in good faith... What does that even mean?!

You can't see the reason why Jones gets a game week in week out - under three different coaches
So plain simple English may be a little difficult to grasp

I would say Bruce is more a like for like Gwilt replacement and Shenton is more of a rebound runner like Wright, Geary, Gilbert or Roberton. He plays tall or short though and is very versatile. I think he probably offers more than Simpkin right now. If Bruce or delaney go out Simpkin is a back up tall back.

Re: Team v Gold Coast
Jones got games under Lyon because he did what he was told and was a negating player - who remembers that fantastic rundown he did of some high-ranked player from a few years back? That typified his value. Lyon loves that stuff, and when you've got a team brimming with more experienced, more skilled players, why wouldn't you?sunsaint wrote:That doesn't surprise me in the leastWellardSaint wrote:Austinn, I can't read your post.

He got games under Watters for being a senior player (not many left) and racking up great stats, namely 25-35 disposals. Disposal Efficiency is another matter, but the point is he can get the ball and the longer he has it, the longer the opposition goes without it. There's a 50% chance they'll get it straight back when he gets round to disposing of it, but you never know, he might actually score a goal or hit a teammate on the chest or something, so it's a calculated risk.
I imagine Richardson plays him for the same reason. When you're building a football team, players like that are not a bad option to keep you a little competitive, but if your opposition finally suss it out and they tell their players to get the ball into his hands rather than a more damaging teammate, that advantage can be eroded.
I don't have a problem with Jones as a role model of club man and hard worker, you know he'll give the shirt everything every game, it's not a bad example to set to more skilled younger players. However, we can't afford to many of those type of players in a team if we ever want to do anything, and I'd suggest that when the next batch of leaders start emerging, Clint will find himself lapping the MCG in an opentop Toyota next to his kids on GF day... I don't want to kill his career, but I'd say I'd be happier to see more skilled players instead from time to time, just to give us hope if anything.
Just My Opinion

When I say 'give the shirt everything', I naturally mean the St Kilda guernsey, not the shirt of height-impaired entertainer...
But we know Clint had a burning desire for the club.
