It's so you don't have to watch The Voice.

Must be a clause in the contract with channel 7 regarding lead in games to the 6:00 news.

Re: Why 4.40?
The old tradition of the Saturday 2pm match is long gone now.
It's all about weird times to suit the television networks. Not to mention, fans have become too soft to attend so they subscribe to Fox Footy instead.
But could the AFL please GET RID of Monday Night Football. Worst copycat idea EVER.

Re: Why 4.40?
After last weeks time slot this seems like bliss.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Re: Why 4.40?
Answer: TV ratings.
Bring back the 2:10 time slot at Waverley Park!
We should makes some money at the game for once
Ps, 4:40 is probably the worst time for a footy match, especially on as Sunday.
I prefer to be home personally watching games from a by gone era.

Alas, the CEO won't change a hell of a lot in this respect. The television networks are dictating terms as far as match times go.bigbadxav wrote:Couldn't 't agree more Sainternist!Sainternist wrote:The old tradition of the Saturday 2pm match is long gone now.

But if they manage to scrap Monday night games and Thursday games, it'll be at least some improvement.

Re: Why 4.40?
That's Sunday afternoon and Sunday night shot if you go to the game, plus the hassle of getting to and from the game but only 3 hours out of your day if you watch Foxtel.
Decisions, decisions.
Decisions, decisions.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Is this game at 440 go for longer than other rounds?
Or is it the same?
Re: Why 4.40?
Tss tsss, it goes longer of course, as we need to have my dinner at 6:00pm. And the game go straight through that time slot...How inconvenient of the AFL

Re: Why 4.40?
As part of the eco-Etihad trial to cut greenhouse gas omissions when the forecast crowd is less than 20K the 50 decibel siren is used to save power costs.stevie wrote:Spinner wrote:Wayne42 wrote:That's Sunday afternoon and Sunday night shot if you go to the game, plus the hassle of getting to and from the game but only 3 hours out of your day if you watch Foxtel.
